In 2004, 2006 and 2008 BTG already had its own stand at this exhibition in Shanghai. With 22,000 m² of exhibition space (2010: 15,000 m²) and over 490 exhibitors from 42 countries, the Transport Logistic China has grown again this year and was a magnet for 15,300 visitors from 73 countries. Spedition GmbH, -Spedition GmbH and also BTG China not only met existing customers and partners, but were also able to win over new ones as well. The exhibition participation was once again an important step for BTG to develop and promote its business not just in China, but in Asia in general. BTG China had been appointed as the official site agent by the organiser Messe München GmbH and was thus responsible for the troublefree handling of all shipments worldwide. This, for instance, included the transport of two Formula 1 cockpit models for a client from Abu Dhabi. However many clients do not realise that in Europe and even in Germany sometimes the devil is in the details! For this reason the project department under the direction of Herbert Fuge had to work flat out in May of this year, in order to meet the requirements of our client KHD, Cologne for their trans- port order. The order was to collect two gear units in Novotroizk/Russia and transport these to Poland and then later return them to Russia. Looking at the following details, it will become apparent that we re talking about abnormal loads here: Truck 1 (Main gear unit) 420 x 295 x 368 cm, 66,207 kg Truck 2 (Small gear unit + 2 cases) 360 x 162 x 347 cm, 10,096 kg 210 x 100 x 108 cm, 1,840 kg 75 x 66 x 68 cm, 218 kg The gear units had to be transported with two special vehicles to the Russian port of St. Petersburg. From there the units were transferred to MAFI tractors and loaded on to the ferry going to Gdynia/Poland. On arrival the units were loaded on to two further abnormal load vehicles. In addition to the transporttechnical requirements such as exception permits, analysis of the driving route, transport escort and various interaction points with handling capacity, it was mainly the subject of customs formalities, which called for special attention. In agreement with the client, this order was handled in the context of IPR (inward processing relief). The specialists of Project Department took care of the exact declaration and documentation, which is necessary for the Russian export and import process. For this particular abnormal load transport, the Project Department was able to contribute its experience and expertise for the benefit of the customer. By this of course we do not mean the wishes and requirements of our clients! It is more that the special transport we carried out for our client Mapeko/Neuwied to the beautiful town of Dabrowa in Poland was a strange sight! For this transport 3 special vehicles were used for the following cargo: 2 pieces x 3.91 x 3.11 weighing 8.5 to each (transported on 2 abnormal load vehicles) and 2 pieces 4,81 m Ø weighing 7 to each (transported on 1 hydraulic angle truck) The cargo was collected on 5th March and in convoy all the trucks arrived on schedule at 6 a.m. on 7th March at the factory gates. Mr. Edward Fuge was in charge of supervising this special transport project from beginning to end and carried out his job with great precision and to the complete satisfaction of our clients.
