1 ! Interlift 2013 at the! picture BTG Branch offices in, On the occasion of its 120th anniversary, the famous department store GUM decided to carry out a special marketing campaign on Red Square in. From 2nd December to 19th January they planed to hold an exhibition of Louis Vuitton suitcases inside an oversized Louis Vuitton suitcase! The suitcases on show belonged in the past to famous people. The proceeds were to go to a good cause: the Naked Hearts charity, which belongs to the Russian model Natalia Wodjanowa and which takes care of underprivileged children. However, the three-storey-high and 34-metres-long object did not only meet with the great enthusiasm of s citizens. After various arguments over the pros and cons, the massive advertising pavilion had to be temporarily dismantled. However, the shortened life of this promotional object does not diminish the logistical challenges posed by such a project. BTG Expo GmbH in Frankfurt, together with their French partner, executed this project both reliably and on schedule. Furthermore, due to the premature dismantling of the suitcase, all parties faced additional challenges. In 2013, on behalf of a Chilean client, the Hamburg branch of Spedition GmbH already delivered a second set of ship generators to a shipyard in the south of Chile. The generators are to be used for the construction of new offshore supply vessels for the provision of oilrigs and will serve to generate electricity for the ships engines as well as for other assistance and hydraulic systems. Every single supply ship will be equipped with four generators from the supplier Catepillar Motoren GmbH & Co. KG of Kiel in Germany. Due to the high individual weight and oversized transport dimensions - 2 generators each have an individual weight of 92,350 kg (measuring 1085 x 275 x 490 cm), 2 generators each weigh 78,500 kg (935 x 265 x 470 cm) and the 2 pieces of special lifting gear each weigh 16,360 kg (738 x 430 x 365 cm) - this consignment could not be collected in Kiel and brought to the Port of Hamburg by truck. Due to its size, the ship chartered with the transport to Chile also could not collect the consignment directly from Kiel, so BTG Internationale in Hamburg especially chartered a coastal cargo vessel (74 m long and 11m wide) to collect the shipment and bring it to the final shipping terminal in Hamburg. Based on the delivery terms FCA, the supplier Caterpillar was only obliged to place the shipment on the quay wall. In order to load and secure the cargo onto the coaster, BTG hired a so-called gang/crew, who, during the 7-hour-long loading procedure, were responsible for the seaworthy mounting of the shipment on board.
