1 January 2013 SUMMARY Presentation Partnership Kick-off meeting All information and documents will be available shortly from the website under costruction PRESENTATION Adriatic littoral area is affected by intense traffic because of normal mobility of residents and concentration during summer of millions of tourists. On 14 and 15 January 2013 the Palace Hotel of Ancona will host the two-day kick-off meeting of the project involving eight partners at national and international level, led by the Public Company for Inter-Municipal Mobility Conerobus. foresees the implementation of common activities aimed at identifying the best methods to foster effectiveness of local transport systems according to the needs of areas involved. The project works on intermodal and sustainable transport models in order to support the tourist vocation of the areas represented by the partners involved. The aim of the project is to exploit the possibilities offered by intermodality to promote tourism in the countries overlooking the Adriatic sea so as to use intermodal transport and environmental sustainability seen as drivers of efficiency of the transport system and facilitators of tourism. This will be achieved through a series of actions that will be developed in three interrelated strands: Development of awareness on the issue by means of appropriate communication and information Analysis of demand and transport needs to support the promotion of tourism Implementation of pilot actions at local level The partners will work together on, the development of a network international relations and the organization of project related knowledgebase tools. The platform will allow to store and share information collected by project partners and will be accessible to all the stakeholders, users of transport networks and institutions. In particular, Conerobus will draft, with the support of researchers specialized in the field, a Strategic Plan for TPL intermodal connections in the county of Ancona, and will implement a pilot project focused on delivering an intelligent service path being variable, to be applied to areas where there is a demand for mobility, and in particular remote areas having a strong potential for tourism (rural areas, fractions, etc...). In this way it would be possible, under certain conditions, to provide the most rational and efficient user needs. In addition to Conerobus, the project will see the participation of three other Italian partners (Municipality of Jesi, Emilia Romagna and Puglia Region) and five foreign (Albanian Ministry of Transport, Municipality of Vlora, City of Sibenik, Split County, Agency Dunea), together with Associates being the Municipality of Ancona and Marche Region. The project is financed by European Union under the IPA Adriatic Programme fora total of two million of 1
2 euro divided between the different partners involved in the project. Work Programme WP1 - Crossborder project management and coordination The project transnational coordination will include day-to-day management and coordination, financial management and monitoring and evaluation of the project for the overall duration (36 months). WP2 - Communication and dissemination Communication will be a core aspect of project. The project wants to facilitate CBC dialogue on issues of intermodal mobility applied to urban and touristic transport and raise citizens awareness on green mobility solutions. Among the outputs: communication and dissemination plan, website, newsletter, guidelines, events. WP3 - Research and collection of data Common activities will allow to define jointly methods for CBC dialogue and a methodology for research aimed at identifying: 1) indicators for an efficient transport system 2) needs of urban mobility and touristic flows 3) best practices of intermodality. WP4 - CBC dialogue for the definition of common strategies and solutions for sustainable intermodal urban mobility Local Mobility Boards made up of relevant LT stakeholders will be set up in each town. Boards will meet to draft local Strategic Plans on intermodality both in a restricted composition for decision making purposes and in meetings opened to public. Direct and constant relation to territory is a key aspect of project. This will allow Boards to collect inputs from citizens before drafting strategies and get feedback on what Board has proposed. WP5 - Pilot actions Pilot actions finalized to test new intermodal mobility solutions and/or transfer of existing best practices will be planned on the basis of each territory peculiarities and needs in terms of urban mobility, tourism management and promotion policies emerged in WP3. Some pilot actions are: a call-a-bus service, an on demand service in which changes of itinerary will be programmed by using interactive departure boards; the reorganization of train connection, the integration with bus transport and the building of an exchange parking; integration of the TPL pass card with bike sharing service and installation of multimedia informative panels; integrated transport by rail in the littoral area for young people and tourists; car sharing facilities for employees; intermodal connections to islands and fostering of bicycle facilities; better connections with remote areas. WP6 - CBC Networing for the Touristic Promotion of the Adriatic Area In parallel to CBC brain storming for approval of Strategic Plans for intermodal urban mobility, partners will also dialogue (seminar, workshop) and network to consider how to apply identified intermodal transport solutions to the management and promotion of tourism in the area.
