1 GLOBAL CLIMATE ACTION 16 NOVEMBER 2016 Adaptatin f Agriculture t Climate Change fr Fd Security The climate change cmmitments put frward in (I)NDCs shw that agriculture is a pririty, with 94 percent f cuntries including the agricultural sectr fr mitigatin and/r adaptatin. The munting pressure n fd systems challenges the adaptive capacity and resilience f and fishery. Agriculture hlds a central psitin in the respnse t climate change, as actins in this sectr represent nt nly a plitical, ecnmic and mral imperative, but als an pprtunity. Indeed agriculture is unrivalled in its ptential t simultaneusly address pverty, hunger and climate change. Investments in agricultural develpment can catalyse synergies and increase benefits acrss ecnmic, scial and envirnmental dimensins. Hwever, a triple gap in finance remains fr (i) adaptatin, (ii) agriculture and (iii) Least Develped Cuntries and vulnerable states. Thus, the internatinal cmmunity must increase its supprt fr the implementatin f the NDCs. The Glbal Climate Actin event is a unique pprtunity t shwcase the agricultural sectr as the greatest pprtunity fr climate actins. The presence f many agricultural stakehlders will bring abut an pprtunity fr interactin, including actrs that are t ften n the margins f natinal climate change planning, and wh are scaling up climate actins. The event will feature the Adaptatin f African Agriculture (AAA) initiative, a majr cntributin in agriculture t the Africa Adaptatin Initiative (AAI), and the Glbal Framewrk n Water Scarcity. 1

Each tpic will address three fcal areas: slutins, scaling up and c-benefits. Crsscutting issues such as gender, finance, pverty eradicatin and health will enrich the dialgue.
