ROLE INFORMATION Employer: Position Title: Location: Status: The Flagstaff Group Ltd ( Flagstaff ) Production Assistant Illawarra or Shoalhaven Casual Classification: Flagstaff Certified Agreement Grade 5 Reporting to: Remuneration: Group Operations Manager $26.31per hour THE PURPOSE OF THE POSITION Reporting to the Group Operations Manager and taking direction & instruction from the divisional Managers, your role will be to apply your skills and experience to effectively and efficiently assist in the production needs of different Flagstaff business divisions and/or ensure the safe and efficient delivery and pick up of products and/or goods from different locations as directed. You will be working in a team environment or unsupervised depending on the area you are working in or role you are undertaking, however at all times your focus will be to meet production targets whilst ensuring high levels of quality, accuracy and customer service. Working out of Unanderra, Port Kembla or Nowra, you will be a hands-on team member carrying out your duties for extended periods in one business division, or at times you will be required to undertake duties in different divisions with minimal notice of the location change. When not undertaking tasks directly relating to your role, you will be expected to carry out any other task or activity assigned to you by your manager that is within your level of skills, training & abilities and/or the reasonable expectation of the Grade for this role and/or any lower Grade. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS AND EXPECTATIONS OF THE POSITION Present as a role model for professional conduct while applying Flagstaff s core values of Quality, Integrity, Safety and Teamwork. Meet the Key Accountabilities of the role and undertake any task as instructed and within the level of your skills, abilities and/or training. Effectively and professionally communicate & work with co-workers at all times. Ensure production targets are met or else immediately report any reason why targets cannot be achieved. Apply any identified quality assurance practices and process. When not carrying out tasks directly related to this position, carry out any other task or activity assigned to you by your manager that is within the reasonable expectation of the Grade for this role and/or any lower Grade. THE KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE Subject to entitlements, be prepared to regularly work changing shift start & finish times. Subject to entitlements, be prepared to work some rostered shifts on weekends and public holidays. Set up and operate and/or supervise the operation of equipment within the levels of your qualification, skills and abilities. Undertake any task within the levels of your qualification, skills and abilities. Undertake duties in a single business division for extended periods of time or at changing locations depending on operational need and at times with minimal to nil notice of the location change. Consistent with your licence limitations, drive and operate Flagstaff trucks and/or other vehicles to various locations and successfully carry out reasonable customer requests in a safe, professional timely manner. 3 Ensure correct operation of any hydraulic lifting mechanisms. Deliver and/or pick up products to or from different locations as required ensuring all road rules and regulations are complied with. Keep trucks and other vehicles clean inside and out Report any truck/vehicle maintenance problems to the manager of the division the truck/vehicle is assigned to. Wear all required and necessary Personal Protective Equipment. Carry out basic/vehicle handbook owners maintenance of tuck and equipment as required. Complete any vehicle inspection, pre-operation and/or maintenance checks as instructed. Maintain files, records and routines as instructed to insure the efficient operation of the delivery service. Wear all required and necessary Personal Protective Equipment. Immediately communicate any customer questions and/or issues to the relevant site manager. Undertake any site maintenance activity as instructed and within the levels of your qualifications, training, skills and abilities. Comply and support others to comply with all policies & procedures, standards, rules and applied legislation including the Work Health & Safety Injury Management Systems. Consult with management and other employees on safety related issues. Immediately report all incidents, accidents, defective equipment, possible hazards and unsafe work practices immediately to the Safety Team & your manager. INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEE WORK HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES All employees and contractors will actively ensure safe practices are followed and take reasonable care in the performance of their work to prevent work related injuries to themselves and others. In particular, all employees and contractors shall: Maintain safe work conditions and use safe work practices at all times; Follow all safety regulations and precautions. Assist in the implementation of Flagstaff s WHS policy. Comply with safety directions; Attend training courses as required; Wear the correct PPE at all times; Ensure compliance with Flagstaff Contractor induction requirements. 4 THE SELECTION CRITERIA Eligible to immediately work in Australia without sponsorship; At least 2 years of experience working in a field that reflects an ability to undertake the requirements and expectations of the role; Awareness of Work Health & Safety (WHS) requirements; Forklift Certificate (or the capacity & willingness to obtain the qualification); Senior First Aid Certificate (or the capacity & willingness to obtain the qualification), and the capacity & willingness to act as a workplace first aid officer where requested and in receipt of the relevant Flagstaff allowance; Ability to operate independently, effectively and professionally with limited supervision; Sound literacy & numeracy skills; Demonstrated experience working within set Policies & Procedures; Demonstrated ability in applying quality assurance practices and processes; Good communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills; Ability to rapidly learn & understand task requirements; Confident and comfortable using a computer with some recent experience using Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook; PERFORMANCE & ABILITY EXPECTATION For an employee at this Grade, the ability to meet the expectations and/or skills of this Grade and any lower Grades is a requirement of this position. Grade expectations and/or skills are outlined in Schedule A of the Flagstaff Group Ltd Certified Agreement 2004 as follows: GRADE 1 A person engaged in this Grade shall undertake up to 38 hours induction training which may include information on Flagstaff s business, conditions of employment, introduction to supervisors and fellow workers, training and career path opportunities, work site layout, work and documentation procedures, occupational health and safety, equal employment opportunity and quality control/assurance. An Employee at this level performs basic routine duties essentially of a manual nature and to their level of training. Persons at this level exercise minimal judgement and work under direct supervision whilst undergoing structured training to Grade 2. 5 Examples of duties at this Grade include basic cleaning within a kitchen or food preparation area including cleaning of dishes and utensils, labouring, sorting, packing, labelling, clipping, assembly document preparation and routine basic assembly tasks. GRADE 2 An Employee who has completed at least three months structured training so as to enable them to perform work within the scope of this level. An Employee at this level performs work above and beyond the skills of an Employee at Grade 1 and to the level of their training. 1) Works under direct supervision either individually or in a team environment. 2) Understands and undertakes basic quality control/assurance procedures including the ability to recognise basic quality deviations/faults. GRADE 3 An Employee who has completed relevant training so as to enable the Employee to perform work within the scope of this level. An Employee at this level performs work above and beyond the skills of an Employee at Grade 2 and to the level of their training. 1) Is responsible for the quality of their own work subject to routine supervision 2) Works under routine supervision either individually or in a team environment 3) Exercises discretion within their level of skills and training. GRADE 4 An Employee who has completed relevant training so as to enable the Employee to perform work within the scope of this level. An Employee at this level performs work above and beyond the skills of an Employee at Grade 3 and to the level of their training. 1) Works from complex instructions and procedures 2) Assists in the provision of on the job training to a limited degree 3) Co-ordinates work in a team environment or works individually under general supervision 4) Is responsible for assuring the quality of their own work. 6 GRADE 5 A person at this level may hold a Trade Certificate or equivalent qualifications and is able to exercise the skills and knowledge of that trade. In the absence of formal qualifications and in non-trade areas, relevant experience may be sufficient to enable a person to work at this grade. Indicative skills include the following: 1) Understands and applies quality control techniques 2) Exercises good interpersonal and communications skills 3) Exercises discretion within the scope of this grade 4) Performs work under limited supervision either individually or in a team environment and assists with the supervision of others 5) Operate all lifting equipment incidental to their work 6) Performs non-trade tasks incidental to their work 7) Performs work which while primarily involving the skills of the Employee s trade is incidental or peripheral to the primary task and facilitates the completion of the whole task. Such incidental or peripheral work would not require additional formal technical training 8) Able to inspect products and/or materials for conformity with established operation service standards 9) Supervises the work of a section or unit engaged in work of a complex nature 10) Co-ordinates and broadly oversees the work of one or more assistant supervisors at Grade 4. GRADE 6 An Employee who possesses trade qualifications or equivalent experience and skill to be capable of: a) Assessing the ability, skill and competence of a person with a disability to carry out specific work tasks or duties together with being able to design, develop and provide individual instruction and training for a person with a disability as required to assist the person in attaining their identified vocational goals. b) Performing specialist tasks and is fully competent in his/her work, requires general supervision and little direct guidance in the performance thereof, exercises substantial responsibility and independent initiative and judgement with a requisite knowledge of their specific field and of Flagstaff s business. c) Supervising the work of a section or unit engages in work of a complex nature where trade skills or equivalent are required. 7 d) Co-ordinating and broadly overseeing the work of one or more supervisors who are engaged at a lower level. e) Exercising substantial responsibility and independent initiative and judgement with a requisite knowledge of their specific field and of Flagstaff s business. GRADE 7 An Employee who is responsible for the work of other Employees. Such an Employee shall hold a trades Certificate or equivalent qualifications experienced and skill level and have completed formal training in personnel supervision. Employees graded at this level may be expected to: Organise, motivate and control subordinate staff Understand and apply quality control techniques Exercise good interpersonal and communication skills Capable of operating all equipment used by subordinates.. Note: This position may, after due consultation, be revised and amended from time to time in accordance with the needs of Flagstaff.
