1 Position: Careerforce Apprenticeship Advisor Purpose of position The purpose of this role is to: Work with employers to promote apprenticeships To provide support, guidance and assessment for apprentices Work across the sectors that Careerforce supports to promote Apprenticeships Reporting relationships Reports to: Regional Manager Employer Services Direct reports: Nil CEO General Manager Employer Services Regional Manager Employer Services Careerforce Apprenticeship Advisor Delegated authority Financial: Within budget delegated by the Regional Manager Employer Services Other: Nil External relationships Internal relationships Committees/Groups o All existing customers o All potential customers o Employers o Secondary schools o Trainees o Employer Services Team o Support Services Team o Product & Development Team o Wider Careerforce staff o Industry sector groups as applicable Careerforce Apprenticeship Advisor (CAA) JD - June

2 Careerforce Key Result Area Strategic and business planning General activities Contribute, as appropriate, to the strategic and business development of Careerforce in areas(s) of responsibility. Specifically, the success of the Apprenticeship programme that support the requirements of the business plan. Overall performance Contribute, as appropriate, to the overall performance of Careerforce. Risk management Identify risks and impacts, and identify, implement and review solutions within areas of responsibility. Company Culture Attend and participate in relevant meetings and training days, and provide input and collegial support of colleagues. Quality Ensure that information pertaining to own role and responsibilities is regularly monitored and reviewed. Resource management Uphold and implement as appropriate resource requirements, health and safety procedures, and all required HR policies and procedures. Project support Assist in projects as requested and as relevant to areas of skill and capability. Key stakeholders Develop new and existing relationships with Marketing and promotional activities stakeholders. Attend appropriate conferences, expos, career evenings, graduations and promotional events that will promote Careerforce training and related activities as requested. Performance measures All identified tasks/areas of responsibility are performed in an effective and pro-active manner. Evidence of contributions to meeting key strategic goals and all compliance and QA requirements. Risk management plans and activities are developed and implemented for all services contracts. Regular attendance and full participation at meetings and training days as required. Information is accurate, up-todate and audience friendly, and provides clarity around Careerforce s activities. All relevant compliance issues, policies and procedures are upheld and implemented. Assistance is relevant, constructive and proactive. Evidence of pro-active stakeholder engagement. 3 Communication, team support and administration Ensure communications is regularly monitored and reviewed. Provide timely reports as required, including input into databases and other electronic recording systems. Undertake travel as required. Communications is accurate, up to date and audience friendly. Reports submitted as required; accurate information entered, stored and maintained. Travel requirements met. Position Key Result Area Relationship management - Apprenticeships Specific activities Manage a portfolio of clients within a region. Support regional cross sector development and relationships. Work with providers to increase the number of apprentices entering into training agreements. Apprentice support Provide solutions to support trainees timely completion of Apprenticeships, and monitor their ongoing progress. Establish a pastoral care visit and call schedule. Complete assessment of apprentice s competence and per training schedule. Māori and Pacific liaison and support Identify regional and national Māori and Pacific agencies and providers, and provide targeted advice and support that aligns with their needs and aspiration. Sector Engagement Join regional forums to assist with the promotion and support of Apprenticeships Attend appropriate expo s, careers events and conferences to promote Apprenticeships. Contribution to culture and collaboration Attend team meetings as requested. Provide feedback and support to team members and other areas of Careerforce. Performance measures Clients receive timely and accurate information to help them make good on-the-job training decisions. Business development opportunities are recognised and effectively acted upon. Training reports used effectively to support trainee interactions. Pastoral care obligations are completed in line with TEC expectations. All assessments completed in a timely manner with quality feedback to apprentices. Evidence of positive engagement with Māori and Pacific agencies and providers. Regional forums attended and contributed to. Opportunities for promotion and marketing are attended. 4 Person specifications Education, qualifications, training Knowledge and experience Generate and make referrals for business to other units within Careerforce. Essential A qualification at NCEA Level 5 or above (or equivalent). A current full New Zealand driver licence. Experience in engagement with employers or stakeholders. Experience in developing and maintaining strong relationships. Previous experience in a mentoring/support role. Experience in developing and monitoring plans. Computer literate, and working knowledge of , internet, Microsoft Word and Excel. Commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Proven ability to meet agreed targets. Skills Interpersonal and teamwork skills. Ability to present information accurately and prepare information for clients. Proven experience in setting up and maintaining records and providing concise reports. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across a wide range of people/community groups/organisations. Ability to work effectively and independently of immediate support or oversight, and take responsibility for own workload. Attributes Understanding of and empathy with the challenges faced by workplace based training and/or the health and Referrals made to other business units where appropriate. Desirable A tertiary qualification relevant to the health and disability, social services or education sectors. Links with organisations and agencies in the health and disability, aged support, or social services sectors. Experience in providing training. Experience in conducting, evaluating or overseeing assessment practices. Knowledge of the role and function of the TEC NZQA, ITOs and Careerforce. Previous experience with databases.
