2 South Florida BrewFest 2014 On November 22, 2014, Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management at Florida International University (FIU), through its Institute for Hospitality & Tourism Education & Research (IHTER) will host the 3 rd Annual South Florida BrewFest in Miami. What began three years ago as a student project has quickly grown into a regional event that attracts an enthusiastic audience interested in discovering the most unique craft brews Florida offers. This year, the South Florida BrewFest will again united beer distributors, brewers and beer enthusists for a day, dedicated to showcasing the region s best craft brews to an audience of students and locals alike. The success path of the South Florida BrewFest echos that of the Food Network South Beach Wine and Food Festival, which FIU students first concepted thirteen years ago and have spearheaded each year since. The Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management at Florida International University (FIU) has designed and facilitated educational programs to the craft beer industry for many years through its distinguished faculty, including chemistry and brewing expert Barry Gump. IHTER currently provides numerous programs that meet the curiosity of the public and the most urgent needs of beer distributors, industry professionals and nascent entrepreneurs. With the recent unveiling of its state-of-the-art Brew Science Laboratory, the School has solidified its commitment to furthering the success of the industry through STEM research. SFL BrewFest 2014 will showcase Florida s best craft breweries and their one-of-a-kind beers to an audience of over 500. The festival will include several educational seminars centered around the Southeast region s most renowned brewers and the dissemination of their expertise and passion for beer and beer-making. Proceeds from the South Florida Brewfest support the FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and its Brewing Science program. South Florida Brewfest, Miami, November 2013

3 Details The conference will take place on Saturday, November 22 from 12 p.m. 4 p.m. on FIU s Biscayne Bay Campus. It will be promoted to our network of students, alumni, corporate partners and local associations such as South Florida Food & Wine, What s Up Miami, Greater Miami and the Beaches Hotel Association, Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau, Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association. We expect to exceed last year s program, which drew an audience of 400 attendees. Florida International University s Biscayne Bay Campus The one-day event will include an expo and educational seminars, which are included with entry, and food will be available for purchase, showcasing FIU s Student Culinary team.
