Chemica industry in India is a diversified industry, covering more than 80,000 commercia products. The chemica industry is the mainstay of industria and agricutura deveopment of the country and provides buiding bocks for severa downstream industries such as texties, papers, paints, soaps, detergents, pharmaceuticas, varnish etc. Goba chemica industry was vaued at $ 4.3 Tn in 2015 and is expected to grow at 5.5% per annum ti 2020 driven by demand from end use industries. The Indian chemica industry was estimated at $147 Bn as on FY15 and contributes 3% to the goba chemica industry. The Indian chemica industry has the potentia to grow at 9% per annum to reach $226 Bn by FY20. The growth is expected to be driven by rising demand in end-use segments and expanding exports fueed by increasing export competitiveness. With initiatives ike Make In India program gaining steam, investments, innovation and infrastructure are going to be the major thrust areas for chemica industry. GST reform wi aso give boost to the chemica industry by owering the transaction cost and avoiding cascading effect on the taxes. The initiatives ike setting up a fuy functiona singe window system for a cearances (SWIFT), reforming abour aws, easing the and acquisition rues couped with Make in India and GST, are expected to prope Indian chemica industry forward. The most important objective behind organizing the India Chem series is to highight the investment possibiities in the country's chemica industry and give a fiip to "Make in India" initiative of the Government of India. The PCPIR is envisioned to reap the benefits of co-siting, networking and greater efficiencies through use of common infrastructure and support services. Each PCPIR is a specificay deineated region having an area of about 250 sq. km. wherein 40% of the area has to be for processing activities. The State Governments carry out Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) and ead the project impementation. Government of India is ensuring infrastructure deveopment in the PCPIRs through highways, rai ink, ports, airport etc. through Pubic Private Partnership (PPP) projects to the extent possibe. The PCPIRs have been promoted both at the domestic and internationa eves aong with the State Government, Anchor Tenants and committed investors through industry interactions, road shows, exhibitions, seminars, conference etc. Once fuy estabished, these PCPIRs are expected to attract investment of Rs. 7,62,894 crores approximatey. As on , investments worth Rs. 70,649 crores approximatey have been made in these regions. Infrastructures with investment of Rs. 53,468.7 crores approx. is expected to be created in the PCPIRs, out of which the contribution of Government of India woud be Rs crores. The four PCPIRs are expected to generate empoyment for around akh persons. As on , around 2.23 akh persons have been empoyed in direct and indirect activities reated to PCPIRs.
