3 General information Venue The international workshop Bioaffinity- Mass Spectrometry in Life Science and Biomedical Analysis takes place at the University of Konstanz. All lectures are given in the Central Building A, lecture hall K503 (IBZ II). Accomodation Major hotels located downtown in walking distance from the train station are listed below. Transportation You can reach the University with bus lines 9A and 9B from the main train station Konstanz. From Wollmatingen you can use the bus line 11 to get to the University, and from Litzelstetten and Dingeldorf the bus line 4 is available, with the bus stop Egg convenient to reach the University. Wardrobe On level B4 you can find a supervised wardrobe. However, we recommend you not to leave any valued articles unattended. Conference office The meeting desk will be located adjacent to K503, and will be open starting from Sunday, 4:00 pm. PC and internet In the lecture hall K503 a laptop with internet connection will be available. We ask you to bring your PowerPoint presentation on an USB flash drive, for easy loading on the presentation computer. Workshop dinner The speakers dinner will be on Monday, Dec. 14 th, at 8:00 pm, at the Restaurant Elefanten, Salmannsweilergasse 34, Konstanz.

4 Bioaffinity- Mass Spectrometry in Life Science and Biomedical Analysis Organisers Michael Przybylski (University of Konstanz) and Michael Glocker (Proteome Center Rostock) DGMS Fachgruppe Affinity-Mass Spectrometry Description Mass spectrometry has been established as a key tool in proteomics, and in the identification of epitopes recognized by antibodies of polypeptides and protein antigens, that are crucial as lead structures for vaccine development. However, the combination of mass spectrometry and bioaffinity methods has been hitherto explored and developed only to an small extent. In this workshop recent developments of Bioaffinity- mass spectrometry will be presented and discussed for structural identification and bioaffinity quantification in ligand binder interactions. Major topics: Antigenic determinant identification; affinity- proteomics; interaction mapping using chemical crosslinking; biopolymer interaction studies by online bioaffinity-mass spectrometry; new approaches for conformational interaction mapping by ion-mobility-ms; applications to biomedical and clinical studies. Brief theme presentations by scientists from different laboratories and manufacturers will be given, together with up-to-date reports of most recent applications. Participation of graduate and postgraduate students is especially encouraged.
