1 JOB TITLE: POSITION LEVEL: Level 3 Development & Integration Manager REPORTS TO: Head of IT JOB PURPOSE: To work with Head of IT and wider business to develop coherent application strategy for integration of legacy applications and effect a channel shift to the mobile, web and tablet space in support of bpha strategic objectives. To recruit, build, motivate and continuously develop a team of analysts software developers, test, integration and training professionals to deliver the application strategy. To define and implement the required training, standards, tools, processes, practices, techniques and other attributes to ensure the function exhibits the highest professional standards and delivers high quality output, on time and on budget. To develop and document appropriate technical architectures to support the application strategy and bpha strategic goals. To deliver transformational software solutions, and support the existing application estate. To manage personnel, the inbound work stream, projects inprogress, and legacy application integration activities to ensure project deadlines are met while highest quality standards are maintained. To ensure that internal systems are integrated through a coherent and manageable framework to maximise flexibility and efficiency, while minimising maintenance overheads. To support all new implementations, upgrades, maintenance and replacement of existing systems as part of their normal application lifecycles to ensure bpha operational efficiency is continuously improved.
2 Ensure all application services are stable and robust and available during the agreed service hours. To manage and deliver the 3 rd line application support function to deliver high quality and timely problem resolution for the business. To act as an influencer and advocate for the applications strategy and team itsel, across IT and to the wider business. Work collaboratively with managers across bpha to deliver the on going programme of projects in support of the organisation plan, IT Strategy and wider business Strategy. Support the Head of IT in meeting or exceeding all compliance, governance, regulatory, risk management or Data Protection obigations. KEY RESULT AREAS MEASURES OF SUCCESS PERSON REQUIREMENTS 1. Recruit, build, motivate, lead and develop a professional, highly skilled Software Development & Integration Team, comprising the following key functions. a. BA, Test and Training b. Software Development c. Integration & Implementation d. 3rd Line Technical Support 2. Ensuring that the team roles are clarified, objectives agreed and monitored to provide the best possible integration, application support and software development function. 3. In conjunction with the Head of IT develop an innovative strategic vision for bpha s application suite to support delivery of bpha s ambitious system integration, web and mobile 1. Build a tight knit, supportive, highly skilled and resilient development and integration team. Ensure all staff know their objectives and have the necessary skills to meet the operational goals. 2. Deliver a clear, achievable application strategy to support bpha s strategic goals. Communicate and advocate the strategy to the head of IT, and the wider business. 3. Develop, Deliver and rollout Attributes 1. Motivational, collaborative and supportive leader that inspires and develops staff in equal measure. 2. Identifies and nurtures talent 3. This will include requirements gathering supporting technical architecture, detailed design, implementation framework, codebase and project roadmaps etc. 6. Implement the highest professional software development standards, patterns, practices, and processes. Including (but not limited to) agile processes, coding standards, peer review, source control, automated testing, continuous integration, build and release management. 7. Implement, develop and maintain the highest professional standards for the BA, Test and training functions. 8. Implement, develop and maintain the highest professional standards for the Integration and deployment functions. 9. Identify, select, test and implement appropriate toolsets, enabling technologies and other supporting infrastructure to transformational technology change in line with the application strategy. Including legacy system integration and expansion of web, mobile and cloud technologies. 4. Deliver a coherent application architecture and technological approach to support bpha s integration objectives and support future flexibility. 5. Deliver bpha strategic application initiatives and software investments on time and on budget. Whether through bespoke development, implementation of 3 rd party applications or integration of existing platforms 6. Build a continuous integration and one touch deployment model based on source control systems, automated testing and associated plug in technologies. 6. Excellent man management or team leadership experience in the development, testing, business analysis and application Support spaces (Minimum 5 years) 2. Experience of building and shaping an excellent development and integration

Ensure modifications to existing systems, system development, upgrades and planned maintenance are performed and delivered to the highest standard within a change controlled environment. 11. Collaboratively engage with the wider business, the Project Management Office, IT colleagues and 3 rd party vendors to ensure successful and continuous delivery of projects to agreed timescales and budgets. 12. Establish workload and quality control activities to ensure that the teams output is of the highest quality, and customer expectations are met or exceeded. 13. Display excellent project management skills. 14. Display excellent vendor relationship management to ensure high quality and consistent delivery when working with external partners. 15. Ensure legacy bespoke code, is progressively migrated to the new fully managed code environment. Legacy code should be refactored and reengineered for use within the strategic integration framework. 7. Deliver fully documented in house development and coding standards. 8. Ensure all software implementations and development activities are correctly tested and documented. 9. Deliver documented personal and skills development plan for all staff. 10. Established strong business and technical relationships. 11. Establish a well controlled development, integration and delivery work stream with a clear roadmap deliveries, accurate work estimates and high quality standards. 12. The team will feel valued for their contribution, and empowered to delivered transformational technology function from scratch, including all the processes, procedures, standards and practices that are the hallmark of such a team. 3. Experience of implementing transformational, professional development practices to a fledgling team. 4. Experience of engaging with external software development partners. 5. Experience in the full lifecycle of software development from Strategic vison and requirements gathering through architectural design, software development and testing and on to delivery and implementation. 6. Extensive architectural design and delivery experience for Apps on the Microsoft stack. 7. Extensive application development and support experience with MS SQL &.Net 8. Strong SQL Server database skills and experience 9. Strong experience with both waterfall and agile methodologies. 10. Strong development experience

Ensure data security and compliance with the relevant data protection and other compliance frameworks. 18. Ensure IT team are properly motivated & supported. 19. Develop a structured professional development programme for junior staff. 20. Develop a deep understanding of the different business / other activities within bpha and use this to inform systems design and improve service delivery. 21. Work collaboratively with the Head of IT and the wider Senior Management Team to deliver an effective set of business application software systems to support bpha s operational and strategic goals. 22. As a member of the IT Management Team, work collaboratively with other senior IT colleagues to actively contribute to the strategic direction, identify opportunities for efficiency gains or transformative change, and drive implementation of the IT Strategy in the application and software development space. change. They will know that they are a key player in building bpha s future. 13. Develop and deliver a coherent set of KPIs in order to measure the performance of the Development and Integration team. 14. Participate fully in IT Management team meetings. Work collaboratively, with the head of IT and other senior managers. 15. Deliver the role with optimism, passion, energy and enthusiasm. Lead by example, particularly when deadlines are tight and pressure is high. in cloud or mobile environments including exposure to mobile platform SDKs, IDEs and toolsets such as Eclipse, Java and Android or Xcode, Swift and IOS and related technologies such as AWS or Azure. 11. Experience in application support and development for a wide range of IT users and systems, preferably in a multi-site, academic and commercial 12. Exposure to SQL Reporting service, Orchard, Keystone or Kypera Skills 1. Well developed communication skills: verbal, written and in presentations. The ability to sell ideas or benefits and build persuasive arguments while effectively communicating technical ideas to non-technical colleagues. 2.
