1 Corporate Services IT - Technical Support & Development Identity Systems Developer/Integrator The Technical Support & Development team works within IT Services and provides bespoke application development, and corporate data integration and identity management solutions. We have recently migrated our legacy user account provisioning system to Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 (MIM). We are seeking to recruit an experienced developer with specialist knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM). You will be required to act as a technical authority on IAM solutions, leading on the design, build and implementation of solutions for enterprise applications. You should have excellent all round understanding and experience of IAM, integration, databases, and broad experience in application development. You will have experience of building effective relationships with customers, users and suppliers and communication with people at all levels of the organisation. 2 Job Description Main duties and responsibilities Lead in the continuing development of the University s new solution for Identity and Access Management (based on MIM 2016), with particular focus on defining and implementing roadmaps and solutions for the Access Management elements of IAM Undertake technical leadership and management of projects in the area of Identity and Access Management Design and build database applications and integration components/interfaces in accordance with overall IT integration strategy Contribute to integration and IAM strategies within IT and at the institutional level Ensure solutions are designed and delivered in accordance with the University of Leeds IT strategy and Enterprise Architecture Provide support and development for existing data integration interfaces that supply data between corporate systems Act as a lead contributor and adviser in diverse technical projects, leading discussions and sharing expertise with colleagues and customers Ensure that the development, integration and delivery of IT systems meets business expectations and are in line with Enterprise Architecture guidelines Maintain appropriate documentation at each stage of the development process Liaise and collaborate with peers within and external to the University of Leeds to share ideas and best practice within the IAM space Design, implement and document IAM architectures and processes: account lifecycle, password management, access control, group management Working with colleagues, provide ongoing support and maintenance for Microsoft Identity Manager 2016 and the associated bespoke Identity Management SQL Server database Manage and administer authentication/authorisation services including Shibboleth Maintain and develop interfaces with key identity providers and consumers Support, develop and maintain database applications and data interfaces between University corporate systems Design, develop and implement ETL solutions using SSIS for the extraction and transformation of data Lead on the analysis of requirements and the mapping of integration requirements to solution architecture Design data models and define schemas and queries to meet the business requirements for any given project

3 Develop an understanding of the data architecture of key systems including VLE, SAP, Banner and Active Directory Present solution options for approval to the Design Authority Demonstrate creativity and innovative approaches to solution design Review and develop standards and procedures for the effective integration of systems and applications Collaborate with customers, business analysts, solutions architects and IT team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. Provide advice and consultancy on database and integration technologies to colleagues both within IT and the Faculties including provision of advice to senior managers Mentor and train colleagues within the TS&D team Produce and maintain technical documentation including functional and system specifications, system integration components and interfaces Manage relationships with external suppliers and ensure third-party solutions adhere to architectural roadmaps and internal standards Lead code and solution design reviews Lead and manage staff effectively, upholding the IT Behavioural Framework and the University s Leadership and Management Standard Ensure all solutions comply to IT standards and policies including security, applications, data, hardware and networks Represent the team at project delivery meetings and external meetings; deputise for the Service Group Leader as required Ensure the team is kept up to date with relevant technical knowledge pertinent to developing the team s capability Maintain an in-depth knowledge of Identity Management and information security technologies, and provide expert advice regarding the application of such technologies to support University objectives Any other duties as may reasonably be required, consistent with the grade of the post

5 Person Specification Essential Demonstrate significant experience of working as a developer on complex enterprise wide systems in the area of identity and access management Demonstrate knowledge of: o Technologies for supporting identity and access management, e.g. Active Directory, LDAP, Shibboleth o Microsoft SQL Server or equivalent RDBMS, e.g. Oracle o Microsoft Visual Studio or other IDE, e.g. Eclipse o ETL tools such as SQL Server Integration Services o Programming skills in C#, Java or VB.Net o role-based access control (RBAC) methodologies Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including the ability to write reports and present information clearly and concisely Demonstrate the ability to analyse situations and problems and to be able to propose solutions and develop reasoned courses of action Demonstrate experience of meeting deadlines and working under pressure to deliver quality outputs Demonstrate a commitment to service excellence and customer care Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills including ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of customers, colleagues and external vendors Demonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a team Hold a qualification in or have undertaken training in a formalised project management methodology (e.g. PRINCE).
