9 CIBSE Societies The Society of Light and Lighting acts as the professional body for lighting in the UK. The Society of Public Health Engineers (SoPHE) aims to provide a higher profile and focus for public health engineers within CIBSE. The Society of Façade Engineering advances knowledge and promotes good practice in façade engineering.

The Institution is organised on a regional basis - there are 16 regions in the UK and 4 overseas, in the Republic of Ireland, Australia & New Zealand, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. 23 Benevolent Fund The relief of persons who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress and who are members or former members of the Institution of Heating and Ventilating Engineers or of the Illuminating Engineering Society of Great Britain or of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers and the immediate dependants of such persons Over the last year, the fund has been able to provide: Help towards funeral costs Urgent repairs to boiler to provide heat for the winter Removal expenses to move to an accessible property Work to relieve damp in home before winter sets in 23 How you can help: If you know of someone in need who meets the criteria, please refer them to the Fund (details below) As a CIBSE member, you can make a voluntary contribution with your annual subscription, designate any interviewer fees you receive to the Fund or make a direct debit (please request a form) Leave a legacy to the Fund in your Will Becoming an Almoner
