1 ADDENDUM #08 PROJECT: Mount Allison University Gairdner Renovations Project PROJECT N o : CFEI DATE: This Addendum shall be considered part of the specifications for the construction of this work and shall be read in conjunction with such specifications. All work mentioned herein shall be in addition to and shall supersede the specifications and shall be included in the contractor s tender. This Addendum shall be read in conjunction with drawings and Specifications Issued for RFP on March 15, This Addendum has a total of Eight (8) pages including attachments. 1. ECIFICATIONS 1.1. Reference Section Instructions to Proponents a. Article 6.1 to read as follows: i. Mandatory evaluation criteria identify the minimum requirements that are essential to the RFP process. These requirements are evaluated on a pass/fail basis. Bids that fail to meet the requirements are given no further consideration. The Owner will evaluate Proposals using the following criteria. Failure of a Proposal to pass mandatory criteria 6.2.1, 6.2.2, 6.2.3, 6.2.4, 6.2.7, will result in the elimination of that Proposal from further evaluation. Please complete Appendix C to confirm mandatories Reference Specification Section a. Revise item to read Use only certifiable restoration stone mason to carry out operations 1.3. Reference Section a. Part 2.3 Acceptable alternate piping manufacturer: SMS Ltd Reference Section a. Part should read Provide TAB of the following systems, equipment, components: AHU-1, ERV-1, MUA-1, FE-1 (not including air terminal and fume hood testing, otherwise in accordance with part 1.10), EF-1 thru EF-6A, VRF fancoil systems FC-1 thru 26. Add to Hand Dryers: by general contractor, see architectural drawings 3. CLARIFICATIONS 3.1. Reference Stone removals and Reinstatement ASK.05 (removals between gridlines L-7 and L-9.5) a. Remove Existing Stone by raking out mortar joints. b. Provide stone removal mock-up to verify stone fastening mechanical. Consultant to be present for mock up to establish acceptable stone removal procedures. Provide minimum 48hrs notice to consultant. c. Take precautions and use due care when removing existing stone, so as to salvage any good blocks for re-use in the building or elsewhere. Stone not redressed and reused in the building is to be stacked on pallets and turned over to the client. d. Use calipers, squares and levels to measure opening for new stone. Allow for mortar joints of thickness to match existing. Measure face dimensions to a tolerance of 1/16" and thickness to a tolerance of 1/8". e. Prepare and submit Shop Drawings of replacement stone units in accordance with Section f. Use Lewises or dogs to lift stones to working level only if stone to heavy to handle manually. g. Move stones horizontally in wheelbarrows, on carts or on sleds. h. Slide stones into place on wood ramps. i. Clean stone by washing with water and natural fibre brush before laying. Page 3 of 5

4 j. Lay heavy stones and projecting stones after mortar in courses below has hardened sufficiently to support weight. k. Set large stones on water soaked softwood wedges (or plastic) to support stone in proper alignment until mortar has set. Remove wedges when dry, do not break off. l. Remove mortar dropping from face of stone before mortar is set. Sponge stone free of mortar along joints as work progresses. m. Install anchors, dowels and cramps. n. Set stones plumb, true, level in full bed of mortar with vertical joints flushed full except where otherwise specified. Completely fill anchor, dowel and lifting holes. o. Provide masonry mortar mock-up 2 weeks prior to stone installation to verify true likeness to existing mortar. p. Keep new mortar wet for 3 days for initial cure. Protect for 21 days. q. Mortar: Standard of acceptance Dubois Readymix mortar Type O Acceptable alternate manufacturer: King Reference Drawing A3.01 a. Starting thickness for roof insulation for roof types R3 & R4 as shown on drawing A3.01, to be 2 at the drain with a min 1% slope Dwg series M4.XX clarification: a. Sprinkler heads in walk-in cooler to be dry type. b. All pendent heads in t-bar/drywall throughout to be fully recessed type General re: Equipment Supply a. Autoclave options clarification: General Contract to include supply and installation of Autoclave gravity steam sterilizer. Unit shall be GETINGE model 522LS, Cabinet type (non recessed) with Single Manual Door. BSF (Biological Sealing Flange) NOT required. Integral Printer located at control end is standard. Control panel shall be located on unit (integral, not remote mounted). Unit shall be English Language model. Steam source shall be House supplied steam as per mechanical drawings. Integral steam boiler is NOT required (all associated options are not applicable (boiler safety devices and blowdown not required, water saver not required, vacuum pump not applicable). Water booster NOT required. Hot water feed NOT required. Compressed Air NOT required. 304SS piping for Tissue Culture NOT required. UPS NOT required. Unit shall be supplied with internal rack w/ extra third shelf. Unit shall NOT be supplied with one Loading Car/track/transfer carriage. Seismic anchoring is NOT required. Unit shall comply with Pressure Vessel Code and bear applicable CRN number/documents. Unit shall be supplied with 1 dia. 45psi House Steam line and ¾ dia. low pressure condensate as per schematic 1/M3.10. As per dwg M1.05, unit is fed with ¾ cold water feed (downstream of BFP). Unit electrical requirements are 120V/1, 12A, 15MOP. Verify model options with owner prior to final purchase order of equipment. Page 4 of 5
