1 Our products are as varied as our custoers. With our products, our copany has set exaples and trends that have ade positive changes in the building trade. We want to continue to do so in future and, as Product Manager, I have accepted the challenge of helping shape this course. We work together with architects, installers and building owners in order to continually iprove our products and to ake the safer and easier to use. That eans soeties we even break away fro convention. A good exaple of this is the developent of the Waterproofing Syste. Together with planners, installers and the aterials testing institute MPA Braunschweig, we developed this Waterproofing Syste for the baseent wall and floor slab. It is an all-round care-free package that brings all the advantages of a coordinated Waterproofing Syste. Architects need not worry about how they are going to find and coordinate different products, and installers need not worry about working conditions the waterproofing can be laid in just about any weather. Our focus is on developing and anufacturing practical construction products for noise and oisture protection in building construction. With innovative and intelligent syste solutions featuring odern aterials, we will continue to ake building ethods not only better, easier and safer in future, but have also pledged, for ourselves and our raw aterial suppliers, that our products will protect our natural resources so that the building owner can truly enjoy healthy living. It coprises an EN 3967 copliant, flexible polyethylene waterproof ebrane lined with nonwoven fabric on both sides, to be laid beneath the floor slab prior to concreting, in order to protect the building fro rising dap. The waterproof ebrane is laid upon the blinding layer before pouring the concrete slab. To secure it in place, the ebrane is equipped with adhesive tape, so that overlapping joints can be stuck quickly and securely together. 4 Sealing Tape Cuff Inner/Outer Corners Forwork Strips Sealing Tape is a coponent of the Floor Waterproofing Syste. An adhesive tape ade of polyethylene lined on both sides with nonwoven polypropylene fabric. This duct tape can be used to join corner joints together with ease. It is bonded using Sealant Adhesive. The Inner and Outer Corners are oulded parts ade of polyethylene fil lined on both sides with a polypropylene nonwoven fabric, available as an accessory for the Floor Waterproofing Syste. The inner and outer corners are placed into the corners of the forwork for the floor slab. The building is thereby fully protected against oisture all the way into the corners. Forwork Strips are a coponent of the Floor Waterproofing Syste. Polyethylene waterproofing strips lined on both sides with nonwoven fabric that protect the edge faces of the floor slab against rising ground oisture. For bonding corner joints of Floor Mebrane, Forwork Strips and Wall. The Cuff, as a coponent of the Floor Waterproofing Syste, is a collar ade of polyethylene fil lined on both sides with nonwoven polypropylene fabric and cobined with an EPDM oulded part. It serves to ake a waterproof connection between the Floor Mebrane and pipelines, such as PVC wastewater pipes and epty conduits. The Cuff is siply joined to Floor Mebrane using Sealant & Adhesive. 5 Sealant & Adhesive Fastening Tape Protective Mat Sealant & Adhesive, which coes in cartridges, is a coponent of the Waterproofing Syste. It is a peranently elastic, single-coponent sealant and adhesive based on a silane-odified polyer. The Fastening Tape is an eleent of the Floor Waterproofing Syste. A highly elastic, ouldable, single-sided adhesive butyl fastening tape. The Protective Mat is an accessory for the Wall Waterproofing Syste. It is ade of 5 thick, high-density polyethylene foa. It is installed around the wall of the baseent in order to protect the Wall Mebrane fro backfill. The surface is sooth on both sides, and ensures that no shear stresses arise when copacting the backfill aterial, which could otherwise lead to cracks or drooping of the waterproofing and insulating boards. Preparing the substrate The substrate ust be level, of sufficient load-bearing capacity, sooth and free fro rigdes and objects. Possible substrates on which to lay the ebrane: blinding layer of concrete, load-bearing substrate of gravel sand or underground perieter insulation boards. When planning, it ust be ensured that no reinforcing bars running fro the foundation into the floor slab penetrate the waterproofing layer. 2. Adjusting the corners Place the Inner and Outer Corners into the corners of the slab forwork and fasten the to the blinding layer using a ineral building adhesive. 3. Laying the Forwork Strips on the forwork walls Lay the Forwork Strips all the way around on the insides of the forwork walls. They ust overlap the blinding layer by at least 0 c. Cut into the overlap in the corners and guide it around the corner without wrinkling. Leave an overlap of at least 7 c at the short-end joints of the Forwork Strips and glue the with the Sealant & Adhesive as follows. Apply a c thick bead of the Sealant & Adhesive into the overlap and press the Forwork Strips firly together using a hand-held roller. Fold the Forwork Strips over the top edge of the forwork and fasten it down e.g. using chafer strips.. Laying the Mebrane over the area Lay the Floor Waterproofing Mebrane sheets loosely over the area and join the together using the integrated adhesive strips along the long edge (overlapping by at least 7 c). Overlap at the short ends (by at least 7 c) and glue using the Sealant & Adhesive as described in Point 3. Lay the Floor Waterproofing Mebrane loosely over the Forwork Strips. The Floor Waterproofing Mebrane and the Forwork Strips ust overlap by at least 7 c. Tip: lay the Floor Waterproofing Mebrane sheets siultaneously with reinforceent esh so that the ebrane lies securely when it s windy. 6. Connecting the Floor Waterproofing Syste to pipes and penetrations Cut out penetrations for epty conduits or wastewater pipelines into the Floor Mebrane as precisely as possible using scissors or a cutter knife. Then slide the Cuff over the pipe. The collar of the Cuff should rest on the Floor Mebrane without wrinkles. Glue the Floor Mebrane and Cuff together using the Sealant & Adhesive as described in Point 3. Alternatively, seal off wall penetrations using the Fastening Tape. Rest the Fastening Tape on the pipe above the level of the slab, overlapped by at least 7 c over the Floor Mebrane, and press it onto the contour of the pipe. Guide strips around the pipe with an overlap of at least 3 c. When planning pipes and epty conduits, ake sure the pipes are at least 0 c apart fro each other. Distance fro wall: at least 20 c. 7. Visual inspection Conduct a visual inspection before pouring the concrete slab. Any daage ust be repaired. Seal off any holes or tears in the Floor Mebrane. To do so, glue a sufficiently large piece of the Floor Mebrane onto the daaged area using the Sealant & Adhesive. 8. Pouring the concrete slab Pour the concrete in the direction of the overlapping seas, so that the overlaps cannot be forced open by the pressure of the concrete. 9. Waterproofing the corners After reoving the concrete forwork, glue the Duct Tape into the corners above the level of the slab using the Sealant & Adhesive as described in Point Reoval of the overhand Cut away the Wall Mebrane flush with the floor slab using a cutter knife.. Preparing the wall The wall ust be free of loose coponents, release agents and other containants. Sooth out bups, transitions and irregularities in the wall using ortar. 2. Gluing on the baseent wall and plinth waterproofing Lay the Wall Mebrane (preferably horizontally) around the building and glue it in place using a ineral building adhesive. Begin with the bottoost sheet, aking a connection with the Floor Mebrane on the edge face of the floor slab. Overlap by at least 0 c. Lay the Wall Mebrane iediately after the with application of the building adhesive. Push the Wall Mebrane strongly into the glue using a soothing trowel. Avoid cross-joints in the Waterproofing Syste. Glue horizontally overlapping joints over the entire overlapped surface using ineral building adhesive. 3. Making the vertical overlapping joints Make vertical points of contact, e.g. at the short ends of the sheets when laid horizontally, overlap and glue the using the Sealant & Adhesive as follows. Apply a c thick bead of the Sealant & Adhesive into the overlap and press the Wall Mebrane firly together using a hand-held roller. Overlap at least 7 c.. Visual inspection Conduct a visual inspection before laying the Protective Mat or gluing on insulation boards. Repair any daage! Fix any holes or tears in the Wall Mebrane. To do so, glue a sufficiently large piece of Wall Mebrane onto the daaged area using Sealant & Adhesive. 5. Protecting the waterproofing Before backfilling the pit, protect the Wall Mebrane with the Protective Mat by running it around the building. 6. Applying the perieter and plinth insulation boards Glue the Wall Mebrane directly to the perieter insulation boards using building adhesive for insulation boards. (Do not use solvent-based adhesives.) Apply perieter insulation boards for the baseent wall and plinth area onto the waterproofing as recoended by the anufacturer. We recoend placing the Gefinex Protective Mat in front of the perieter insulation boards before properly backfilling the pit. 5. Applying spacers for area-wide reinforceent Apply raised, flat-lying spacers over the entire area as a support to reinforce the slab (e.g. fibre concrete snake or bar spacers).
