1 PROPOSAL FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES June 22, 2015
2
3 FIRM BACKGROUND Dimension IV Madison Design Group is built on a vision of architecture and professional services that puts the client and users, the building function, and the project budget at the forefront. We greatly enjoy teamwork and collaboration and view them as critical to a highly successful design process and outcome. The foundation of our project approach is Listening. We conduct design charettes with the library board and staff to help conceptualize the new library spaces. If desired, we also conduct Visual Listening Sessions with the community at large. This information helps us create inspiring environments. Public libraries are the most used of public buildings and often are the most important to the community. Enabling all stakeholders to become active participants in the design process creates community support, a sense of ownership in the project, and a library the community will embrace. Dimension IV Madison is dedicated to designing spaces that are environmentally responsible, affordable, healthy and efficient for its occupants. We are also committed to a long-range perspective. Based on our experience, we have found that a municipal building, once built, will stand as-is for approximately 20 years before the next renovation and/or expansion project. Our design will address future expansion of the library and the need for flexibility in its space to accommodate changes in library services and user needs over time. The proposed services for this project include architecture, interior design and engineering, and the following: Create a building program, revising the Space Needs Assessment with meetings with library staff and trustees as well as an analysis of the existing collection and facility. Conceptual design options with architectural drawings and three-dimensional massing and modeling. Design options will be reviewed with staff, trustees and the community, and a final design developed for approval by the Village Board. Project Cost Estimates will be developed for each design option and will include construction costs, fees, FF&E and contingencies. A project schedule will be prepared incorporating design, approvals, fundraising/ funding and construction. Fundraising, marketing and presentation documents will be prepared for the approved design and will include renderings, floor plans, site plan, exterior elevations, and other drawings as needed to communicate the proposed project. Interior Design and FF&E services to creatively solve design problems, produce interior aesthetic concepts, detail the interior environment, select proper finishes and materials, choose appropriate lighting concepts, and determine suitable furniture, fixtures, and equipment. Full FF&E services are integrated from the beginning of the design process and cover such things as layout, evaluating existing versus new, matching FF&E to the interior architecture, FF&E selection, and the coordination and procurement of all FF&E, keeping within the budget. Final Design and Construction Documents will be prepared upon a successful capital campaign, including plans, specifications and FF&E documentation for use for final approvals, bidding, construction and FF&E installation. Construction Administration services would continue through the construction process and installation of FF&E. These services are consistent with the services that we have provided for the various projects listed within this proposal. 2
