3 SCHEMATIC DESIGN PROCESS During Schematic Design, the District and its team collaborate with the MSBA to develop a robust schematic design of sufficient detail to establish the scope, budget, and schedule upon which to evaluate the basis for a proposed project, secure approval of the Proposed Project by the MSBA s Board of Directors (the Board ), and obtain DESE approval of the Proposed Project for delivery of the District s special educational program.

Assemble project workgroups to collaborate on project essentials such as: Mechanical Systems, Technology, Educational Programs, and Athletics etc. Prepare schematic design to include items such as: building floor plans building elevations site layout of building, driveway & parking lot, landscape features sustainable design such as: renewable energy initiatives, LEED design narratives Conduct Community Informational meetings on project scope, budget and schedule. October to November 2013: NMRHS, MSBA, SMMA & Heery review and confirm schematic design for educational, program and community requirements. Heery and SMMA perform independent project cost estimates with reconciliation.

Prepare project Design, Program, Budget and Schedule for submission to MSBA. January 2014: NMRHS, SMMA & Heery meet with MSBA Facilities Assessment Sub-Committee to review Schematic Design. NMRHS, MSBA, SMMA & Heery meet to review and establish Project Scope & Budget Agreement. MSBA Board Meeting reviews and votes on Project Scope & Budget Agreement. February to March 2014 Anticipated town meetings in February/March to approve a new NMRHS. Anticipated town ballot votes in February/March to appropriate funding for a new NMRHS.
