3 Kesatuan Pengelolaan Hutan (KPH) Forest Management Unit (FMU) 1 Sustainable forest management system at site level, known as Forest Management Unit (FMU), is areas of forest management according to their basic functions and allocations that can be managed efficiently and sustainably. Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 6 Year 2007 about Forests Governance and the Preparation of Forest Management Plans, and Forest Utilization.

15 6 Closing 1. Indonesia is committed to implement the decentralization of sustainable forest management, through Forest Management Units (FMU). 2. Government support the strengthening of the FMU Institutions up to the site level, through facilitating the operational management tools (office / vehicle / equipment / etc.) and human resources. 3. The FMU play the strategic roles in implementing the national program on food / environment / energy and water resources; either directly by the FMU management itself, or by empowering local community, and / or through forestry partnership. 4. The decentralization of sustainable forest management to the FMU s are conducted intact and completely, in order to promote the optimization of forest utilization (timber, NTFP, environmental services & nature tourism). 5. The FMU s can play a role in Social Forestry and TORA through the identification of area accuracy, access to land, technical support for operational management of forest and information. 6. Potential cooperation opportunities in forest management with FMU s, such as the activities of Social Forestry, Forest Utilization (timber, NTFP, environmental services & nature tourism), and Forest Rehabilitation in order to support of the carbon emissions reduction and improvement of the community welfare.
