Neil will provide an update on the activities of the Heartland over the past year as well as insights into the challenges and opportunities for future industrial development in the region. Regional Investment Updates PART has been a banner year for industrial development announcements in the Heartland region. Take this opportunity to learn firsthand about the status of these projects and the benefits to the regional, provincial and federal government economies. SASoL CAnAdA (GAS To LIquIdS) Martin Waterhouse, Country President, Sasol Canada Sasol Canada is proposing to construct a natural gas-to-liquids (GTL) facility in the Industrial Heartland that would produce high quality diesel, naphtha and LPG products for the western Canada market. The GTL facility would be the first of its kind in Canada. Sasol has recently completed the purchase of lands in Strathcona County for the GTL project and has filed its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) submission to the Alberta Government for regulatory approval. A decision to proceed with FEED (front-end engineering and design) activities will take place following Sasol s United States GTL and ethane cracker investments currently underway in Louisiana.

AIR PRoduCTS (HydRoGEn PRoduCTIon PLAnT) Tad Koscielak, Business Development Manager, Air Products Air Products announced plans to build, own and operate a new world-scale hydrogen production plant adjacent to Shell Canada s Scotford facility. This facility will produce over 150 million standard cubic feet per day of hydrogen and will be connected to Air Products Canada s existing Heartland Hydrogen Pipeline system which supplies refiners, upgraders, chemical processors and other industries in Alberta s Industrial Heartland region. The new Air Products Canada hydrogen plant is to be commissioned in the second half of 2015 pending regulatory approval. WESTERn HydRoGEn (MoLTEn SALT GASIFICATIon) Neil Camarta, President & CEO, Western Hydrogen On September 5, 2013 Western Hydrogen Limited reached a major milestone in their piloting of an innovative hydrogen production technology called Molten Salt Gasification (MSG). The first production of hydrogen was achieved from the company's new pilot plant in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The MSG process uses a combination of molten sodium salts (sodium carbonate and sodium hydroxide) to convert a carbon feedstock and water into hydrogen. The technology allows the production of highpressure hydrogen without the need for compression and can use a variety of feedstocks, including renewables. The very high energy efficiency of the process results in a lower unit cost for the hydrogen produced and lower CO 2 emissions overall. CAnEXuS EXPAnSIon (north AMERICAn TERMInAL operation nato) Jamie Urquhart Vice President NATO, Pipeline-to-Rail, Canexus In December 2012, Canexus announced their next expansion, a pipeline-connected unit train operation. The Terminal is being connected with pipelines that interconnect with the MEG Energy Stonefell Terminal. Pipeline and Unit Train Growth Project - NATO is expected to be the first unit train operation in Alberta. The project includes building out the pipeline connection, rail infrastructure, loading/offloading and above ground tank storage. In July 2013, Canexus' Board approved staged expansion to increase terminal capacity from 7 to 13 unit trains per week. This expansion is expected to be operational by mid :50-10:20 am NETWORKINg BREAK use this opportunity to visit the sponsors at their displays.

Regional Investment Updates PART 2 keyera EnERGy (de-ethanizer) Jarrod Beztilny, general Manager, NgL Facilities Operations, KEYERA Corp. Keyera is constructing a 30,000 barrel per day de-ethanizer at its NGL fractionation and storage facility in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The de-ethanizer will allow Keyera to process an ethane-rich stream of NGLs (referred to as C2+ mix) creating specification ethane for delivery to petrochemical producers in Alberta and a propane-rich stream of NGLs for delivery into Keyera's fractionation facilities. Keyera is targeting completion in mid This project is another example of Keyera s ability to utilize existing facilities and operational expertise to capture new complementary business opportunities. ATCo PoWER - HEARTLAnd GEnERATInG STATIon David Carmichael, Senior Manager of Business Development, ATCO Power In addition to its current operations in the Heartland at the Scotford Cogeneration Plant, ATCO Power is proposing to build and operate a 400 MW combined cycle natural gas-fired power station in Strathcona County that will produce enough electricity to power approximately 400,000 homes in Alberta. Construction is slated to begin in 2014 with full operation in ATCo EnERGy SoLuTIonS - SALT CAvERn SToRAGE development ATCO Energy Solutions is proposing to develop four salt caverns with capacity to store approximately 480,000 cubic metres of hydrocarbon commodities. The first two caverns are scheduled for service in 2015 and the remaining caverns in PEMBInA PIPELInES (HEARTLAnd HuB) Robert (Bob) Jones, Vice President, Midstream Business Unit, Pembina Pipelines On September 3rd, 2013 Pembina Pipeline Corporation announced it had acquired a site in Alberta s Industrial Heartland featuring a welldesigned existing rail system and utility infrastructure to support the future development of rail, terminalling and storage facilities (the Heartland Hub). The Heartland Hub is a further build-out of Pembina's larger Nexus terminal (PNT), servicing crude oil and diluent customers for terminalling, storage and rail. The Heartland Hub will be a receipt and delivery terminal designed to capture opportunities to expand services for Pembina's customers. The site is in close proximity to major oil sands pipeline rightsof-way, existing crude oil and petrochemical infrastructure and Pembina's Redwater site. It is expected to provide interconnectivity via pipeline and rail to downstream refining markets and enable Pembina to offer upstream and downstream customers access to merchant storage and other complementary midstream services.

presentations ALBERTA EnERGy REGuLAToRS understanding THE PRoCESS Bev Yee, Assistant Deputy Minister of Strategy Division for Alberta s Ministry of Environment In December 2012, the Responsible Energy Development Act was passed, which created a single regulator for upstream oil, gas, oil sands and coal projects in the province. The new Alberta Energy Regulator is responsible for all projects from application to reclamation. It brings together the regulatory functions from the Energy Resources Conservation Board and the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development into a onestop shop. Ms Yee will speak on the changes and application of the recently activated Alberta Energy Regulator and Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development and their impacts on industrial development in the province. BIo-EConoMy, A new PARAdIGM FoR SuSTAInABLE development? Dr. David Bressler, Executive Director, Bio Conversion Network In a world increasingly focused on reducing its carbon footprint, a new bio-economy has emerged, one in which renewable materials have a significant advantage over materials that are non-renewable and/or require large amounts of fossil fuel energy to manufacture. Bio-economy progress, based on research and development, is occurring in every corner of the world. Dr. Bressler will provide an overview of the bioeconomy as it exists today globally and regionally, and provide insights for potential opportunities to enhance Alberta s energy and petrochemical sectors. Q & A for all speakers 11:45 am Buffet Lunch 12:45 pm Message from Wayne Woldanski Chair, Alberta s Industrial Heartland Association k E y n o T E P R E S E n TAT I o n Dr. Darrell Bricker, CEO, Ipsos Public Affairs and author In his book The Great Shift, Dr. Bricker argues that great global migrations have washed over Canada. Most people are unaware that the keystone economic and political drivers of this country are now Western Canada and the immigrants from China, India, and other Asian countries who increasingly are turning Ontario into a Pacific-oriented province. Those in politics and business have greatly underestimated how conservative these newcomers are, and how conservative they are making our country. Canada, with an ever-evolving and growing economy and a constantly changing demographic base, has become divorced from the traditions of its past and is moving in an entirely new direction. Dr. Bricker will discuss the findings from his book and the impacts the shifts will have on the Canadian and Albertan economies, particularly as they pertain to the natural resource sector as a major economic driver.

EXECuTIvE PAnEL discussion Arguably the greatest energy and petrochemical challenges the world faces today include how to sustainably meet the global increase in demand with minimal negative impact on the environment while at the same time promoting economic development in a timely and efficient manner. Our panel of industry executives will discuss their views and practices regarding efficient and effective resource development ensuring environmental, economic and social viability. PANEL MEMBERS: Praxair Michael St. James, Manager of Business Development TransCanada Lance Asmundson, Business Development Manager, Oil Pipelines, TransCanada Pipelines Williams Energy David Chappell, President of Williams Energy Canada 2:30 pm Questions/Wrap-up and draw prizes 2:45-4 pm Reception and Conversation with the Keynote to run simultaneously.
