AIA Quality Assurance The Building Commissioning Association is a Registered Provider with The American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Systems (AIA/CES). Credit(s) earned on completion of this program will be reported to AIA/CES for AIA members. Certificates of Completion for both AIA members and non-aia members are available upon request. This program is registered with AIA/CES for continuing professional education. As such, it does not include content that may be deemed or construed to be an approval or endorsement by the AIA of any material of construction or any method or manner of handling, using, distributing, or dealing in any material or product. Questions related to specific materials, methods, and services will be addressed at the conclusion of this presentation.
Presentation Description This session will focus on the EBCx process as related in this case study of a large central utility plant. We will be taking everyone through the process from the Scoping Phase to the Investigative Phase and a review of the current status of the Implementation Phase.
Learning Objectives At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Evaluate existing facility operations and baseline current operations. 2. Verify accuracy of existing data collection inputs. 3. Identify different operational improvements, develop costs and savings for developing an ROI. 4. Develop an implementation strategy and execute this plan.
Existing Building Commissioning The Process Scoping and Planning Phase Investigation Phase Implementation PhaseMonitoring & Verification Phase The Building Commissioning Association has published Existing Building Commissioning Best Practices. 02a-e ef-dc1bf6c8f6af.pdf A copy can also be requested from the speakers.
The EBCx Program A holistic building evaluation, including maintenance and operational practices, as well as the value of potential capital improvements. No- and low-cost measures bring quick returns. Capital expenditures are defined and budgeted. Baseline of actual facility usage, not theoretical Should include a Measurement and Verification component to validate improvement measures. On-going commissioning contributes to savings persistence.
