As an Institute formed in 1976, it is found, on a causal basis, that more than sixty percent of the HR Professionals in our Nation have gone through MIHRM s development programs. We need to strengthen our home grown knowledge, blended with international expectations to prepare our future Professionals and up skill our workforce. It is, with these aspirations that MIHRM has designed its Professional Certifications and the numerous Skill upgrading programs, together with the HR Fraternity and the international resources, available through its affiliations. Our Trainers and Lecturers are carefully selected from experienced professionals, specialized in their respective functional areas. Of course we take note of the competition from foreign bodies seeking to provide Certification for HR Professionals and to steal away the recognition of MIHRM, as the internationally recognized institute for HR professionals under the World Federation of People Management Associations. This is normal in a business environment and therefore we believe and seek the HR Professionals and the companies in Malaysia to continue to support and recognize MIHRM s work in Malaysia. MIHRM strongly believes that our aspirations to be a developed nation must be strongly inbuilt and felt in the learning contents and in the drive and commitment of the trainers. All this are carefully observed and ensured collectively by the Management of MIHRM and its fraternity of HR practitioners including the National HR Leaders Council and network. J President, MIHRM MALAYSIA HR AWARD 2015 Established in 1999, the Malaysian HR Awards by MIHRM in collaboration with Jobstreet has over the years gained prominence and stature and is widely regarded and accepted as the premier HR Award by both employers and HR professionals alike. Essentially, the HR Awards recognizes and celebrates outstanding achievements in HR and it's strategic role in helping shape and achieving organizations' business plans and successes. Awards are open to all types of organizations regardless of size or sector and may be earned at four levels : Bronze, Silver, Gold and Grand. With stringent criteria to be met and judged by 3 levels of panels (inclusive of the top level comprising of prominent CEOs' and Managing Directors), it has produced worthy winners like Employers Grand Award recipients CIMB, Intel Malaysia, Dell Global Business Centre, Agilent Technologies, Shell Business Services Centre and RHB Banking Group. This-free-for-members session enables our members to meet, greet and listen to top leaders, CEOs and entrepreneurs who talk about what they expect from the HR professional at a strategic level. The latest instalment of the talk which is on 12 th July 2015 has two leading lights from the corporate world Roshan Thiran who is a popular speaker and trainer as well as Dr. Sofiza who is from the world of Islamic Finance. CERTIFIED HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR The Certified HR Director Programme has finally taken off and the first module has just been completed. The highlight of this programme was the CEO Breakfast talk on the final day of the module. Two CEOs shared their valuable insights in what they expect from HR at a strategic level and how HR needs to deal with the top management in an organization. The Breakfast Talk was well attended by MIHRM members and graduates and was fairly interactive from a CEO s perspective. The programme and contents have been developed in consultation with the senior Functional HR Directors, combined with international research to deliver a result oriented programme. The favourable response has given a tremendous boosts to MIHRM. In case you missed it this year, you can register for next year s conference which is to be held at the same venue from April next year. MIHRM 2015 HR PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION MIHRM qualified 140 certified HR Professional in various positions ranging from HR Officer, HR Manager, Advanced HR Manager, Industrial Relations Manager and Training & Development Manager. The council has 12 senior HR Leaders representing a broad cross section of industries, organizations and sectors. This council which was elected from the members present had its first meeting on the 5th of June and has already started working on its agenda to sup-port and boost the Institute and the profession. 7 E-Newsletter Volume 8 Page 7 July 2015 PROGRAMME CONDUCTED BY MIHRM KOTA KINABALU 12 TH MAY 2015 NEWS TRANSLATION The president of Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dato Lui Yuan Seng thinks that in era that is highly competitive, systematic and organised Human Resource Management takes on increasing importance for Chinese SMEs in the state has not placed much importance on Human Resource Management. Dato Lui is of the view that these SMEs have ignored Human Resource Management mainly due to their lack of information and training in this area. KKCCCI will take up the responsibility of promoting activities to raise the level of awareness of Human Resource development, to help Chinese entrepreneurs to build a positive attitude towards Human Resource Management and to readjust themselves to catch up. Dato Lui emphasized this at an afternoon tea talk organised with the Malaysia Institute of Human Resource Management. We are only to be able to enhance staff quality, efficiency and management level through proper and effective Human Resource Management and planning, in line with the right concept and thinking. At same time, Dato Lui stressed that the underlying causes of a succesfull enterprise is its Human Resource Management planning. Regardless whether it is big or small, it is necessary to have a strong team of employee to be able to enter into a larger playing field and bring about a better effect. What is in Human Resource Management encompasses a set of Human Resource policies and the corresponding management activities, including a corporate Human Resource strategy, staff recruitment and selection, training and development, performance management, compensation management, employee turnover management, employee relationship management, employee safety and health management, etc.
