Business Development Coordinator ERDF Project EHA R Reporting to: Accountable to: Associate Dean (Enterprise and Employability) Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences The Post The Faculty of Arts & Sciences is the largest and most diverse in the University, with a distinctive range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The Faculty s strategic approach to external engagement is led by the Enterprise, Engagement and Employability Impact (E3i) function that develops opportunities in knowledge exchange, applied research, consultancy and student centered industry projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work specifically within the Faculty s Enterprise, Engagement and Employability Impact (E3i) function on an exciting SME engagement project, which supports the region s growth and productivity agenda. The Productivity and Innovation Centre is funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and is focused on improving the productivity of SME innovation practices. The project will support SMEs to adopt and embed highly effective rapid innovation processes in the business, which will lead them to releasing new products, services and process innovations to their market. The Centre will work primarily with agri-tech, professional and business services, and digital health focused SMEs in Lancashire. You will have experience in enterprise and/or knowledge exchange, partnership building, and project delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating one of the 3 sectors (agri-tech, professional and business services, or digital health) linked to your interests, expertise and experience and will be required to travel inside and outside the region to contribute to the delivery of the project objectives. You will coordinate an excellent customer journey for each SME in your sector who is accessing the Centre s support activities. You will enjoy working on your own initiative, within a set of clear objectives, relish networking and dealing with people and demonstrate a commitment to a consistent high standard of professionalism. Working closely with colleagues to support the delivery of the ERDF project, you will have the opportunity to develop a thorough and wide-ranging knowledge and experience of a modern university s business processes. Flexibility, commitment and attention to detail are essential.

2 Duties and Responsibilities 1) Coordinate an effective and efficient customer experience for SMEs accessing support from the Centre. 2) Network extensively with individual SMEs and sector regional and national bodies to promote the work of the Centre and to identify and secure SME participants in Centre activities. 3) Clarify sector based challenges and opportunities which the Centre can support to address. 4) Conduct business diagnostic exercises to understand needs and ascertain the eligibility and suitability of individual SMEs to engage with Centre activities. 5) Contribute to the promotional and outreach activity of the Centre through delivering events and supporting the production and dissemination of promotional materials. 6) Maintain a diligent set of records relating to the required ERDF outputs of the Centre and work closely with SMEs to gather verification evidence that outputs have been met. 7) Coordinate all interactions SMEs have with the Centre and the support they need to access from subject matter experts as required. 8) Participate actively in project progress and review meetings to identify opportunities and resolve issues. 9) Be responsive to individual customer requirements ensuring the highest quality of the quality of service. 10) To work closely and cooperatively with project colleagues to ensure all the operational and strategic requirements for the project are delivered in an efficient and timely manner. 11) To act as an ambassador for the ERDF project, participating in both internal and external networks to promote and raise the profile of the Faculty by being able to demonstrate: Professionally credibility, An up to date knowledge of regional opportunities and needs, especially within the relevant regional SME sector; 12) Build your own capacity to deliver relevant intervention activities with SMEs as required by the project. 13) To prepare, develop and deliver workshops and/or presentations for internal and external audiences/clients in order to promote and raise the profile of the project; 14) To support the Associate Dean and the Executive Dean to prepare an annual plan for external engagement activities, based on outputs from the project. 15) To undertake any other duties deemed appropriate by the Dean or Associate Dean in relation to the project. In addition to the above duties all staff are required to: a) Adhere to all Edge Hill s policies and procedures, including Equality and Diversity and Health and Safety

3 b) Respect confidentiality: all confidential information should be kept in confidence and not released to unauthorised persons c) Undertake appropriate learning and development activities as required d) Participate in Edge Hill s Performance Review and Development Scheme e) Adhere to Edge Hill University s environmental policy and guidelines and undertake tasks in a sustainable manner f) Demonstrate excellent Customer Care in dealing with all customers Salary: Grade 7, Points ,799-32,548 per annum Hours: Full Time, hours per week Fixed Term Contract until 31 December 2020, in line with the duration of the project.
