1 FACULTY OF ARTS AND HUMANITIES School of History PROJECT MANAGER Ref: ALC732 The Post Orchards East is an HLF-funded project, hosted by the School of History at the University of East Anglia, the Suffolk Traditional Orchard Group and other partner organisations throughout the Eastern region. The aims of Orchards East are to record and protect old orchard sites; to promote the new planting of traditional orchards and fruit and nut varieties; to research the social, cultural and economic history of fruit and fruit cultivation in eastern England; and to disseminate the results of that research through education and publication. Located within the School of History, the Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management, strategic direction, execution, monitoring and control of the project. The role holder will work in close collaboration with the Project Management Team, and with individual members of the Team with responsibility for particular aspects of the project. GENERAL Salary Salary will be 32,548 to 38,833 per annum, on Grade 7 on the single salary spine. The normal expectation is that starting salary will be at the minimum of the advertised salary scale.
2 Starting date The post is available from 5 th February 2018 on a full-time basis for a fixed term period to 28 February Terms and Conditions of Appointment Full details of terms and conditions of employment for Administrative Staff will be made available to the candidate to whom the appointment is offered. Relocation Expenses Relocation expenses are reimbursable under certain conditions. Residence The University is strongly committed to providing an excellent student experience and research environment, and it is expected that all staff will be available on campus to carry out their duties during the working week in support of these goals. Absences for significant periods are by agreement with the Head of School or Head of Division. Annual Leave Entitlement There is an annual holiday entitlement of six weeks plus statutory (8 days) and customary (6 days) holidays. Superannuation The post is superannuable under the Universities Superannuation Scheme. 5 APPENDIX A JOB DESCRIPTION Ref: ALC732 Job Title: Project Manager Grade: Grade 7 School/Department: School of History Reporting to: Project Management Team Job Function/Purpose: Located within the School of History, the Project Manager will be responsible for day to day management, strategic direction, execution, monitoring and control of the project. The role holder will work in close collaboration with the Project Management Team, and specifically with those members of the team with specific responsibility for the delivery of particular aspects of the project. Main duties include: Undertake the day-to-day management, execution and monitoring of the project. Co-ordinate publicity, liaise with press and maintain the project website. Input survey data and oversee volunteers undertaking this role. Coordinate the professional consultants undertaking detailed habitat/ historical surveys of selected sites. Coordinate the creation and restoration of traditional orchards. Recruit and co-ordinate survey volunteers, and arrange and oversee their training. Liaise with county-based survey managers and county orchard groups on issues including sites for new orchards, orchard restorations, sites for training and events etc. Organise training events, workshops and public events and meetings. Supervise the tree-buying scheme. Respond to enquiries about Orchards East. General Information All role holders are expected to undertake such other appropriate duties as may be requested. The post holder may be required to support the activities of other members of the Project Team as appropriate.
