1 JOB DESCRIPTION: Ecolabel Account Officer () France and Belgium Location: Responsible to: Responsible for: Salary: Working Hours: Contract: Holiday: Equal Opportunities: Marine House, 1 Snow Hill, London, EC1A 2DH Ecolabel Account Manager () N/A Commensurate with appropriate salary level. The MSC offers a contributory pension scheme (employer s contribution 9%, employee s contribution 6%) and a Death in Service insurance benefit equal to four times annual salary. Employees are entitled to join Tier 2 of the pension scheme on satisfactory completion of their probation period. 9:00 am 5:00 pm with one hour, unpaid, for lunch, five days a week. The MSC supports flexible working, so the pattern of hours may vary according to operational and personal needs. The MSC works across different time zones and weekend work may be required on occasion. No overtime is payable, however, under certain circumstances time off in lieu is possible. Permanent contract with the Marine Stewardship Council International (MSCI), the wholly-owned trading subsidiary of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC). This contract has a notice period of two months in writing on either side. The probation period is 6 months, during which time a notice period of one week applies. 25 days per annum, or prorated equivalent, plus statutory holidays. There is a discretionary carry-over entitlement of five days per annum. The MSC strives to be an equal opportunities employer and commitment to this process will be expected. 2 A Job Summary The MSC operates the world s most recognised fisheries certification and eco-labelling programme. We celebrate, promote and add value to sustainable fisheries and through the leadership of our partners, create market incentives to encourage other fisheries to improve the way they fish the oceans. Over 300 fisheries around the world, landing 12% of the annual global harvest, are now engaged at some stage of the MSC s independent assessment process. MSC certified and labelled seafood products are now available in over 100 countries. The use of the MSC s trademarks is strictly governed by a number of regulations and standards and this work, together with the task of collecting royalty payments, is conducted by the MSCI Licensing Team. This department also performs these same licensing duties on behalf of an external organisation: Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) for use of their logo relating to products from responsible fish farms. The post holder will be part of the MSCI Licensing Team whose main responsibilities are to process and approve requests for use of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) ecolabel and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) logo. The team ensures legal contracts are in place and financial reports are submitted by the licence holders and processed into our database. These tasks are data entry and administration heavy. The post holder will be responsible for licence holders based in France and Belgium and assist with other regions accounts when required or assigned. Language skills (fluent written and spoken) required for this role are: English and French. Additional language skills are highly beneficial and desirable. The position holder will report to and take direction from the Ecolabel Account Manager. Areas of accountability for the team are laid out below: Our team s focus is to be strict but fair, ensuring a high level of customer service to our licence holders. Our customers may require support in finding suitable solutions to their labelling needs and help understanding our program and rules. We work closely with the Communications & Marketing and Commercial teams in the regions 2

3 regarding onboarding and maintaining these customers (as a result, some travel may be necessary). It s important to be fast and efficient as we have a 3-day turnaround time frame for our external customers. Label use is considered in almost every aspect of the MSC s program, so our team is called upon to advise and support with many projects. Building and maintaining good internal working relationships is an important priority for our team as well. The procedures and policies around licensing, the use of the MSC Ecolabel and ASC logo should be well recorded and updated when necessary. This can mean some policy work involving collaboration (within the licensing team and cross-departmental), the writing of and communicating/translating the policies effectively, internally and externally. They must also provide a pro-active and supportive service in relation to MSC ecolabel and ASC logo use to staff across the ASC, MSC and its charitable subsidiaries. In doing so, they will champion a customer focussed approach both internally and externally. B Responsibilities of the Role Responsible for: Licensing (Main duty) - providing licences to eligible organisations wishing to use the ASC label and MSC ecolabel; ASC logo and MSC ecolabel use approval (Main duty) - approving the use of the ASC logo and MSC ecolabel on all products and product-specific marketing material, ensuring the processing of these trademark use requests are reviewed and recorded efficiently and accurately on the ASC and MSC database; Turnover declarations (Main duty) - requesting and processing turnover declarations (sales/purchase statements) from licensees, ensuring MSCI royalty revenue can be invoiced accurately and in a timely manner by efficient processing of turnover declaration data; Customer relations (Overarching duty)- MSCI must ensure all issues related to the ASC logo and MSC ecolabel are being managed and are a mutual benefit to the scheme and the licensees, solutions to any issues should be found within the agreed licensing policies, however, when necessary, issues need to be escalated to the Ecolabel Account Manager; Reporting (Minor duty)- MSCI provides regular updates and reports on product and licensee numbers in the program, as well as graphs on turnover declaration data and product growth. Appropriate guidance from manager will be provided. Policy and projects (Minor duty) The above dimensions of the role need to be streamlined, with official policies written, collaborated on and communicated. These tasks are designated by the Team Manager and the Finance Director. Appropriate guidance from manager will be provided. 4 D Person Specification Skills and Experience Fluent English and French, both spoken and written, is essential and additional relevant languages are a great advantage; Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with very good attention to detail; Computer skills, including the use of standard software packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat); Demonstrable experience with contact management software and other databases; Experience preparing and delivering presentations and reports, with excellent communication skills; Experience of successfully cultivating relationships with colleagues and clients, with a people-centred approach to business and work; Demonstrable cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the MSC programme by stakeholders around the world; Evidence of a willingness and enthusiasm to contribute to MSC-wide responsibilities and development, in pursuit of the MSC s mission and vision; Knowledge of third party certification schemes and the role of ecolabelling.
