13 ORGANIZATION AND TRAINING Contact information for each person Mark hours the person has agreed to be there Remind volunteers 1 week, and also one day, prior to event Have a list of all different jobs/teams for the day Pre-assign volunteers to jobs/teams Designate different people as leads of specific jobs/teams Ensure team leaders know what supplies are needed and where they can find them to set up stations.

17 ORGANIZATION AND TRAINING Volunteer pre-event meeting Explain jobs with as much detail as possible to leads Emphasize the go-to people if something goes wrong/questions arise (leads/coordinators) Describe each job with little detail to volunteers Tell volunteers where they will be stationed Have leads go over specifics of their job to ensure everyone knows what they need to be doing, when, and where Rotate/phase people through multiple jobs if necessary
18 Volunteer Recruiter (YOU): Knows every detail about event, is the go to person, explains event jobs to leads with as much detail as possible. Job Lead: Job leads are assigned to a specific job, know ins and outs of that job, can articulate what needs to be done to other volunteers. Job Lead: Job leads need to have written explanation of their job and what jobs other volunteers will need to be doing. Job Lead: Job leads are responsible for their material boxes and other supplies at their station or place. Volunteer Have fun! Volunteer Make Friends! Volunteer Grow as a leader! Volunteer Be someone's hero! Volunteer Give back to your community! Volunteer Bring people together! Volunteer Sharpen your skills! Volunteer LEARN! Volunteer Make a difference!

Are there any special accommodations they may need? Understanding your volunteers will Help you place them in the correct situation Provide new opportunities Help you improve your organization of volunteers
