The post holder will work as part of wider education team with functional responsibilities to the Head of Education Services (East Asia) and ensure that all work are aligned to wider education strategy About us The British Council is the UK s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Geopolitical/SBU/Function overview: Education Services is the British Council s commercial offer to UK institutions, providing them with professional services support for international education work. The team employs more than 70 people working in 30 markets around the globe, delivering large scale events, marketing services, professional development and training as well as insight and consultancy services. The British Council has a long-standing reputation of 66 years in Thailand as a well-respected cultural relations organisation, creating opportunities and building relationships between Thailand and the UK in the areas of English, Education, Science and the Arts. It operates from its large main Centre in Siam Square as well as four teaching branches in Bangkok and one in Chiang Mai. 2 In Thailand we focus on three areas to meet Thailand and UK priorities - Raising levels of English - Internationalising higher education and science - Supporting the development of a creative economy This post will work primarily in the second theme of Internationalising higher education and science. We aim to provide a global dimension to higher education in Thailand. We support reform efforts, establishing international partnerships in higher education providing UK provision in Thailand and establishing research partnerships. We have supported the establishment of almost twenty transnational education links between universities in Thailand and their counterparts in the UK. Our educational promotion work, directly and indirectly, leads to some 8,000 Thai students studying in the UK every year and Thailand is ranked 9th for non-eu countries sending students to study at UK and 4thth amongst countries in East Asia. Thailand will be leading a cluster of Thailand, Vietnam and Burma in supporting UK educational institutions with marketing UK education (Education Services). We focus on boosting prosperity and social development through stronger Thai-UK research links, enabled by the Newton Fund. With the Thailand Research Fund we are engaging with over 70 universities from Thailand and the UK and with a total of 1000 researchers to date in workshops and exchanges. In order to raise awareness of the importance of science communication and develop the next generation of scientists, we launched FameLab in 2016 with support from the Ministry of Science and Technology and its agencies, reaching 25 million people across Thailand. Main opportunities/challenges for this role: Develop and delivery to the country business plan and ensure Quality of service delivery for all chargeable education services Set, monitor and improve standard, system and processes for operational delivery Conducts period audits in order to raise performance standards Main Accountabilities: The post holder will plan and implement customised marketing and consultancy services for UK education institutions at in-country level. He/she will feed into business planning, reporting and effective operations of the Education Services business in country and across East Asia. Ensure regular in-country market news are uploaded onto online platform, provide regular market information and share any policy/regulatory updates in a timely manner to Hub leads. The role will also be expected to support desk research, data gathering for any in-country consultancy project working closely with country/hub/global stand leads. He/she will specifically prioritise client development, engagement and management and support the development of new partnerships in order to build a viable business in the market we operate in. The role will lead and support the gathering of quality content, provide timely responses to internal and external enquiries (according SOPs) and ensure all client engagement are recorded and shared with hub leads. Feed into, implement and support the Head of Education Services (Hub Leaders) to provide customised marketing and consultancy services for UK education institutions at in-country level. Maintain business assets - gather data at all events e.g. specific in-country databasesincluding student databases, in-country institutional partners, agents/student counsellors. Maintain advertising rate card and ensure that they have an understanding of in-country marketing and digital channels. Ensure that all opportunities are shared in line with British Council ODP and OAC process Ensure that the planning and delivery of the country education services plan are in strategic alignment with our wider IHE work Ensure all duties are delivered in line with the British Council s policy on Child Protection and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and these are taken into account when planning and delivering activity. Manage information created and received in compliance with the British Council s information management standards, policies, the UK data protection principles and local legislation The role will report directly to the Head of Education Paid Services (Hub Leaders) The role will manage team of suppliers/partners and temporary resources when required and coordinate with other teams within the British Council to ensure sufficient resource (internal and external) is in place to deliver Education Services related activities, especially in markets where we do not have standing resource The role will carry out regular audits following Education Services Global Standards in order to monitor delivery and performance and drive improvements.
