Martijn has a background in Logistics and Transport Management (BEng, 2000) and Economics (MSc, 2003). He worked for an international consultant company and taught logistics and transport economics at Hogeschool Rotterdam - a school for higher professional education. Martijn is experienced in market-based research and policy advice, Bachelor and Master Education and scientific research. He participates in a wide range of research projects like sector studies, port development studies and studies related to port-related container transport. He combines his research with teaching port-related subjects at MSc and Bsc level. Martijn is responsible for the coordination and curriculum of the minor program Port Management and Maritime Logistics. His main academic interest lies in coordination issues in hinterland transport chains from an institutional economic perspective. He has published a number of papers on this subject and is working on a related PhD-thesis. The thesis is supervised by prof.
