Through our accreditation programme, you can prove to our members that you have the required levels of knowledge and expertise about GS1 standards so they are confident in deploying your solutions. Who can join Membership is designed for organisations that provide products, services and solutions that support the use of GS1 global supply chain standards for: Bar Codes ecom and EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) EPCglobal and RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) GDS (Global Data Synchronisation) 2

3 Membership options As a GS1 UK Industry Partner we will proactively work with you to drive adoption of GS1 standards through your certified solutions and services. We will devise a business plan of mutually beneficial objectives and activities that will be aligned with our industry programmes and solution development strategy in our focal sectors. You will become accredited in at least one area of our standards and have the option of certifying your solution(s). You can gain access to our 28,000 members through networking events and joint marketing campaigns. As a GS1 UK Solution Associate we will support you through online marketing opportunities and increase your visibility to our members. You will support the adoption of GS1 standards enabled solutions and services. You will become accredited in at least one area of our standards and you will have ongoing access to information about GS1 standards. 4 Accreditation Accreditation is the qualification that measures your knowledge, expertise and understanding of GS1 standards, recognised by our members. Accreditation in one of our standards is a requirement for all members of the GS1 UK Partner Programme. Accreditation must be passed within three months of joining the programme. A minimum number of staff must pass the online exam for you to become accredited. Smaller organisations, with under 5 employees, that do not have the capacity to undertake an accreditation can opt to take a non technical course and exam on the GS1 System. Certification For partners to deploy GS1 standards effectively they need to have the appropriate knowledge and training. We prioritise our activities with companies who have gone through our stringent accreditation and certification programmes. These qualifications are the stamp of approval that companies should look for when choosing a partner, as it means they have the Certifying your solution is available to GS1 UK industry partners and solution associates. By certifying your solution you can: Differentiate your solution from others in the market Demonstrate your compliance with GS1 standards Associate your solution more closely with GS1 UK in the marketplace Participate in GS1 UK-led industry programmes Generate new business opportunities Certification follows a five step process: 1. Demonstration of the solution 2. Review of solution documentation and marketing material 3. Completion of a certification questionnaire 4. Validation of sample inputs or outputs 5. 6 Education, training, accreditation and certification Ongoing education and training is vital to anyone joining the Partner Programme. We have comprehensive training courses to ensure you have the appropriate knowledge and understanding of GS1 standards. Access to education and training programme (classroom, onsite, online and elearn) Accreditation programme in all standards areas Certified solution programme Solution Associate Required in at least one area Industry Partner Required in at least one area companies using GS1 standards to achieve over 2 million 6 billion transactions every day Standards development and industry community We run many workshops and user forums which members of the Partner Programme are welcome to join. 7 Membership fees Membership is based on an annual subscription model. The amount you pay depends on your company s published UK annual turnover and your membership level. If you are a new company you can calculate your membership fee from your expected annual turnover. Certification fees Having a certified solution is available for Industry Partners and the first certification is included within the membership fee. Additional certifications if required are charged at 500 per year. Certification is available to Solution Associates at 500 per certification per year. 7
