5 Jurnal Impact Factr The impact factr (IF) f an academic jurnal is a measure reflecting the average number f citatins t recent articles published in the jurnal. It is frequently used as a prxy fr the relative imprtance f a jurnal within its field Wikipedia, Impact factr

6 What s wrng with the IF? Mst citatins are t a small number f a jurnal s articles. The IF desn t tell us if a particular article is highly cited r nt. Can be gamed by editrial plicy, e.g. by requiring authrs t cite ther articles that appeared in the jurnal r by cmmissining review articles which tend t receive a lt f citatins. Only applies t jurnal articles.
