4 "If and When" We're Planted by Catherine Pulsifer How is "if and when" planted? The scenarios below are examples of planting "if and when." When I Come Back From Vacation Karen, one of my coworkers was stressed about where she was living. The apartment she was in did not have enough closet space, and not enough bedrooms, and she complained each day about it. One day, I asked her why she didn't look for another apartment - it seemed like an easy solution to me. Karen's reply to this was, "I will look for another apartment when I come back from vacation." If I Only Had More Time Sam hated his car. He dreaded getting into it every day to drive to work and the weekends to be with friends. He disliked the way it handled on the road and was concerned for the lack of modern safety features. Reading articles on newer cars and their convenient latest features started to take a toll on him. He had a love for a particular model and had worked a part time job to make extra money to buy his new dream car, but stopped just short of his financial goal. Every night he continued to complain about his car. After listening to his complaints for a month, I asked him why he didn't continue with his part time job to reach the goal he needed to buy his new car. His reply, "if only I had more time to work part time. When I reach my financial goal, I will buy the new car." If Only There Was A Sale Sarah had saved for years and purchased a home of her own and is a proud homeowner. The house she bought had a dishwasher; however, the dishwasher was old and no longer worked. She was annoyed she had to give up precious time with her children or getting other critical tasks done having to do daily dishes, and every time we visited with her she complained about doing the dishes, even if we helped. One night, I asked her, "Why don't you buy a new dishwasher Sarah, wouldn't this save you time and add more focus to what you care to do?" Her reply, "I have been thinking about it, if they would only go on sale I would." When The Summer Comes Larry worked for a company that provided time off. Larry had both the years of service eligible to receive quite a number of weeks per year. His projects typ ically were completed before deadline dates. Lately, Larry was having difficulty coping with some changes that were being made at his company get ting added responsibilities, and often stayed late to as he wanted to keep on top of all current tasks and new work to be completed. Months went by, and I noticed Larry wasn't taking any time off. His efficiency had slipped and his energy level was decreasing. I was worried about the stress of his job and the effects it was having on his health. "Why don't you take some time off Larry? Doesn't even a day to relax or re-energize with your family for a day sound good?" I asked. Larry's reply to my question was, "If only I had the time." I got bolder in my conversation with him, "But Larry, you have your workload under control, but if you get ill or burn out all together, what will happen to your workload then? It really is not worth your health is it? Larry then said, "When winter comes around again, maybe I will." The Same Theme All of these scenarios have the same theme running through them. There is an old proverb that says: "If and when were planted, and nothing grew." Now a year later,... Karen is still living in the apartment she hates! Sam is still complaining about his car and still has not bought a new one! Sarah is still washing dishes! Larry is still working hard, and has not taken time off and his health and his proficiency is not what it used to be! A Proverb To Remember About If and When The sad part of all of these scenarios is that all of these people defeated themselves by thinking "if" or "when." The next time you are in a stressful situation or your goals appear to be off course and you find yourself saying or thinking - "if or when" - remember the saying, If and when were planted and nothing grew! Change your thinking, and take action, so that you can reduce your stress, and live a happier life. Do not wait; the time will never be 'just right.' Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along. ~George Herbert

8 Success Tools Training Series Work Smarter, Not Harder to Boost Your Results When you re running a global business while trying to balance a busy personal and family schedule, it takes a smart strategy to succeed. Try building your weekly schedule around these three key areas for a boost to your business: PLAN: Set up your calendar and plan out your time to devote specifically to your business, your family, and your other personal responsibilities. Creating, maintaining and systematically using a calendar will help you coordinate your time. As you set up your calendar and evaluate how to maximize your time, divide all of your activities into these 3 categories: Income producing activities This should include One-on-Ones, presentations, calls to Clients, follow-ups with Preferred Clients, connections with Prospects or referrals, and booking for presentations, One-on-Ones, etc. Coaching, training and administrative tasks This should include time to explore The Source, training calls, listening to audio trainings, checking s, social media postings, organizing files, following up on order status, etc. These activities are necessary, but do not directly produce an income. Personal and family time This should include personal care, shopping, carpools, going to family functions, etc. These activities are an important part of your Why story and deserve to have time dedicated for them. BLOCK: Block out time on your calendar to break down larger activities into smaller ones. Separating each activity into segments and creating clear finishing points can help you manage your time, thus successfully completing each task all without the added stress or working harder than you really need to in order to juggle everything. Try Block 15: Block 5 minutes each day to call team members, 5 minutes to follow up with Clients, and 5 minutes to book presentations and One-on-Ones. FOCUS: When it s time for family, focus on your family and allow yourself to be present without distractions as much as possible. Save things such as returning calls, responding to s, and posting on social media to time planned for business activities. Balance is key when it comes to a happy home life along with building your successful Arbonne business. Creating dedicated time for every important activity will help you to get it all done effectively, efficiently, and without the added stress that comes from trying to find the time when your day is already packed with to-dos.
