1 POST SALARY HOURS OF DUTY LOCATION REPORTING TO RESPONSIBLE FOR HEAD OF INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT TBC 35 Hours per Week TO BE ADVISED Planning and Development Director Leadership Academy Manager Teaching Development Officer Innovation and Development Team KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Responsible for planning the delivery of Organisational Development initiatives in support of the College mission, vision, values and aims. 2. Develop, implement and monitor operational plans that are aimed at delivering the strategic goals and objectives set by Planning and Development Director. KEY ROLES 1. Management of the College Organisational Development budget. 2. Establishment of an effective ( ideal ) College culture at all levels within the organisation reflecting the College values. 3. Support the development of a culture of change and innovation. 4. Enhance strategic and transformational leadership. 5. Provide support to the College Board of Management at Board development events, in liaison with the College Secretary. 6. Support College managers in managing change. 7. Initiate a change agent training programme based on motivated college principles. 8. Initiate and support team building initiatives across the college. 9. Monitor the College s compliance with all legislative obligations, and associated policies and procedures; for example to encourage and promote compliance with Protection of Children/Vulnerable Adults, Single Equalities Scheme, Data Protection Act (DPA) Freedom of Information Act (FOI) etc. 10. In liaison with the Equality Manager, assist in the mainstreaming of equality throughout the college s strategic and operational functions. 11. Support staff health and wellbeing/stress management. 12. Supply accurate detailed information and management reports on organisational development initiatives as requested. 13. To undertake meaningful evaluation and provide evaluation reports on the impact of organisational development initiatives. 14. Establish and develop external links with agencies and industry as appropriate
2 15. To keep abreast of sector leading innovative practice in both teaching/learning and support areas 16. Encourage Innovation in learning & teaching and all student facing functions. 17. Embed new approaches to learning and teaching in Organisational Development initiatives 18. Provide good quality reportage as required 19. Support accreditation initiatives (e.g. IIP, EFQM, ISO) GENERAL 1. Implement and promote College policies, particularly those relating to safeguarding and equality & diversity in all aspects of College operations. 2. To implement Health and Safety and security measures in accordance with statutory and College requirements. 3. Be a role model supporting College values and corporate management. 4. Actively develop oneself through staff development and training activities and to review their personal performance and the performance of those who are responsible to them. 5. Undertake any other duties consistent with the key responsibilities and duties of the post, as directed. Every Post Description will be subject to review; 1. Within six months of appointment 2. Thereafter, on an annual basis 3. As a result of agreed staff development / personal development needs 4. As a result of team / operational requirements or strategy changes. This job description sets out the principal responsibilities of the post at the time it was compiled. 3 PERSON SPECIFICATION JOB TITLE HEAD OF INNOVATION AND DEVELOPMENT FACULTY/ SECTION PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT Qualifications and Training Relevant Degree / Diploma or equivalent level qualification or demonstratable experience. Evidence of continuous professional development. Occupational Experience Substantial relevant management experience in a diverse organisation including the effective development, deployment and leadership of staff. Relevant professional or postgraduate qualification. Direct relevant experience of strategic/operational planning processes particularly in relation to the areas covered by this post.
4 Significant experience of developing and implementing relevant systems and procedures. Personal qualities and competencies Experience of training delivery. A good understanding of regulations relevant to the College s Planning & Development function. Ability to develop positive working relationships with individuals at all levels (internal and external). Highly developed communication, liaison and networking skills. The ability to analyse, solve problems and implement change with a successful track record of managing and delivering change. Excellent ICT skills.
