For further details, please visit our website: Recruitment Advance HE is currently seeking to recruit an Athena SWAN Programme Manager (Ireland). Salary: 38,000-45,000 (pro rata) Part-time 0.6 FTE (21 hours per week), based in Dublin. General description of the post The post holder will lead the development, planning and delivery of Advance HE s work with universities and institutes of technology in Ireland, in particular the Athena SWAN Charter, for which Advance HE receives specific funding. The post holder will work independently and exercise sound judgment on complex issues/queries. In order to deliver on the above, a key function will be to act as the primary point of liaison for Irish funders and relevant external agencies. This post will report to the Athena SWAN Manager and will work closely with the Athena SWAN Adviser (Ireland), as well as the Equality Charters Development Manager and Equality Charters Operations Manager. The post holder will also work with the senior management team (SMT) and other project managers across the organisation to ensure that Irish context is considered in policy development, communications and events. This 0.6 FTE role is based in Dublin, though it may be possible for other locations in Ireland to be accommodated; if this is desired, reference to this should be made in the application for this role. The role will require regular travel within Ireland and occasional travel to the UK. 3 Job description The post holder will lead the development, planning and delivery of Advance HE s work with universities and institutes of technology in Ireland, in particular the Athena SWAN Charter, for which Advance HE receives specific funding. The post holder will work independently and exercise sound judgment on complex issues/queries. In order to deliver on the above, a key function will be to act as the primary point of liaison for Irish funders and relevant external agencies. This post will report to the Athena SWAN Manager and will work closely with the Athena SWAN Adviser (Ireland), as well as the Equality Charters Development Manager and Equality Charters Operations Manager. The post holder will also work with the senior management team (SMT) and other project managers across the organisation to ensure that Irish context is considered in policy development, communications and events. Specific responsibilities = To oversee the development and delivery of the Athena SWAN Charter in Ireland, including funding proposals, projects, and annual reporting to funders. = To provide dedicated advice and guidance to Irish HEIs, Advance HE subscribers and charter members to support them in developing their Athena SWAN work, in collaboration with the rest of the equality charters team. = To develop materials and guidance to ensure consideration of the Irish context, and to plan and deliver Athena SWAN workshops. = To be an ambassador for Advance HE in Ireland, and to develop and maintain contacts with external organisations, including professional bodies and research funders to ensure the continuation and extension of their support for the Athena SWAN Charter in Ireland. To represent Advance HE on the Athena SWAN Ireland national steering committee. = To work with the Equality Charters Development Manager and Equality Charters Operations Manager to ensure the requirements of Irish institutions are built into charter processes and operations. = Support the operation of the twice-yearly Athena SWAN Charter awards cycle for Irish HEIs, together with the Athena SWAN Adviser (Ireland), including observing review panels and delivering feedback sessions to applications where necessary. = To provide strategic leadership on the Athena SWAN Charter, pursuant to Advance HE s strategy. This may involve working across different protected characteristics and appointing and managing external consultants. = To promote Advance HE and the Athena SWAN Charter and its benefits by speaking at relevant events. = To represent Advance HE on stakeholder forums and advisory groups and provide expert input on Athena SWAN as appropriate. = To undertake commissioned work on behalf of Advance HE as and when required.

4 = To deputise for the Athena SWAN Manager and Head of Equality Charters as appropriate. Other duties This job description sets out the duties of the post at the time it was drawn up. 5 Person specification Educational requirements = A first degree or equivalent evidence of analytical, communication and problem-solving ability. Essential experience and attributes = Knowledge of the higher education system and context in Ireland. = Demonstrable understanding of key career milestones and trajectories of academic, research, professional and support staff working within higher education, preferably in Ireland. = Experience of addressing equality and diversity issues, preferably within higher education. = An up-to-date knowledge of gender equality and wider diversity issues, in particular an understanding and awareness of specific issues relevant to academic, professional and support staff working within higher education. = Confident public speaker, with excellent communication skills and the ability to interpret and explain policies, provide advice and assistance to a range of audiences and the ability to persuade, influence and motivate others. = Ability to produce clear, focused and comprehensible presentations, workshops and documents for various audiences and purposes. = Ability to build and foster cooperative working and learning relationships with external partners and stakeholders. = Experience of engaging with stakeholders and translating views into policy development. = Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interpret data, policies and procedures, clearly explain, reason and articulate decisions, and provide advice and assistance to a range of audiences. = Good analytical skills with the ability to collate and analyse complex material and data, and present it in accessible forms. = Project management skills, with the ability to manage and deliver on schedule several projects at once and make appropriate decisions independently with minimal supervision. = Excellent organisational skills including managing the organisation of meetings, events and review panels. = Ability to challenge the opinion of those in authority with tact and diplomacy.

6 = Ability to assume responsibility in the absence of senior staff when necessary. = Excellent IT skills with the ability to research on the internet and make full use of , electronic diary management, databases, Excel and PowerPoint (Advance HE currently uses Microsoft Office 2013).
