2 About FVPLS Victoria Established in 2002, FVPLS Victoria is the only service in Victoria exclusively dedicated to assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault. FVPLS Victoria is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation. FVPLS Victoria provides culturally safe and holistic, frontline legal assistance and non-legal supports to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault. FVPLS Victoria also provides early intervention/prevention and community legal education to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, the legal, and domestic violence sector. In addition FVPLS Victoria undertakes policy and law reform work to identify systemic issues in need of reform and advocate for strengthened law and justice outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims/survivors. Unfortunately without ongoing funding we rely on securing funding from sources such as philanthropic trusts to undertake this important work. FVPLS Victoria is not gender specific, however at last count 93% of our clients were women. As an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, FVPLS Victoria is directed by an Aboriginal Board and has a range of systems and policies in place to ensure we provide culturally safe services in direct response to community need. FVPLS Victoria has offices in: Abbotsford Warrnambool Bairnsdale Mildura ORGANISATION INTENT To deliver a culturally safe service Provide accessible, quality services which meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims of family violence throughout Victoria Provide culturally strong and sustainable community legal education to Aboriginal communities Increase knowledge in communities to improve access to justice

3 POSITION OBJECTIVE To administer HR systems that ensure FVPLS Victoria is compliant with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, professional standards and guidelines that relate to all HR related matters KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Review and ensure implementation of all HR and OH&S Policies and Procedures Act as Equal Opportunity Officer Co-ordinate and support Managers with end to end recruitment and selection; PD review/development, ad copy/vacancy listing, interview and offer stages. Coordinate and support Managers to conduct employee induction Coordinate Performance Development Reviews Support Managers and Staff on employee wellbeing and industrial relation matters, including the resolution of disputes and conflicts. Coordinate termination activities including exit interviews Ensure the organisation's training activities are planned to meet current and future organisation and employee needs, and satisfy government training requirements. Ensure personnel records are maintained to meet employee and statutory requirements and entitlements. Manage the collection, maintenance and interpretation of management information and records to monitor performance, control the preparation of reports (including Affirmative Action) and authorise the release of information. May represent the organisation in dealings with employer groups, industry associations, government authorities and other relevant bodies as required.

4 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY REPONSIBILITIES The HR Officer will: Comply with all OHS policies, procedures and requirements and take reasonable care to protect their own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace. All staff are required to immediately report any incidents, hazards or near misses to the relevant supervisor and actively participate in hazard elimination where required. Comply with Equal Opportunity policy, procedures and requirements, and undertake work and activities in a manner that ensures the workplace is free from harassment, bullying behaviour and discrimination. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Demonstrated ability to work or learn to work with Aboriginal organisations, communities and individuals in culturally appropriate ways as well as mainstream organisations Demonstrated experience in a generalist HR role, preferably in a community focussed organisation Demonstrated capacity to maintain sensitive information, maintain confidentiality and remain impartial at all times Highly developed written communication skills, with proven ability to prepare a range of documents including reports, and general correspondence Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise effectively with a wide range of people at all levels The ability to effectively prioritize and manage time in order to meet deadlines An ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships, characterised by co-operation, trust and mutual respect Strong Computer literacy excellent Excel and Word skills
