3 Dear Applicant, Thank you for expressing an interest in working for us. People First Independent Advocacy has been supporting people in Cumbria for over 25 years. We now provide a wide range of support and information services aimed at helping people to live informed, respected, healthy and fulfilled lives. Our organisation is user-led meaning that our customers are at the heart of all decision making. People First is a person centered organisation, we care deeply about the rights of each and every customer that we support. We have teams of staff based in Carlisle, Barrow and Workington, all working from our Best Life Buildings. We are also working in the North East and Liverpool. We hold a number of statutory contracts with Cumbria County Council to deliver: Care Act Advocacy; Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy; NHS Complaints Advocacy; and Healthwatch Cumbria. On top of this we run projects funded by Children in Need, Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group and NHS England as well as having projects which help us generate our own income. 4 Job Description Job Title Salary Hours Responsible to Based at Qualified Trainer/Assessor 13,200 ( 22,000 pro rata) 22.5hrs, ideally over 3 days. Research, Education and Development Manager. People First Best Life Building in Carlisle Background/Main Purpose of job role To design, deliver and act as assessor for accredited training programmes in advocacy and other educative courses for our staff and other organisations within the Northern Region. To support the development, delivery and evaluation of accessible training to and with grassroots groups in the Northern Region. To help develop our research and education offer through the new Research and Education Department of People First Independent Advocacy. Position in organization Reporting to the Research and Educational Development Manager you will also work closely with the the Business Development Team, Advocacy Team and Inclusion Team. You will also liaise and collaborate with all other staff and associates including stakeholders across the region. Main functions Consulting with stakeholders and supporting networks in the region. Curriculum and programme development for accredited and non accredited programmes Overseeing the administration of those programmes. Act as trainer/assessor on a number of specific projects. Visit learners in their workplace and assess qualifications. Draft and co-write reports and other materials to support dissemination of research and education offer. Contribute to PFIA s practice development. Represent PFIA and build relationships internally and externally in a way that enhances the company s reputation and ensures outcomes will be achieved. General responsibilities Participating in PFIA team meetings, operations days, events and undertaking training as necessary. Adhering to, and actively promoting, PFIA s code of practice and equal opportunities policy. Operating all procedures and practices agreed by the Board. Engaging with own administration. Attending and contribute to regular supervision with the line manager. Be responsible for your own health and safety and that of colleagues. Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected.

5 Person Specification Must have: A strong background in education/training and be a qualified assessor/ trainer. Excellent organisational and IT skills Excellent communication skills Great attention to detail Ability to be flexible timewise and work independently in satellite settings Car driver essential Energy and enthusiasm! Desirable: Previous experience of working collaboratively with other educational organisations Previous experience of working collaboratively with third sector organisations A working knowledge of inclusive training and research. Qualifications: Assessor Award (A1, TAQA, D32 etc) Training qualifications (PTLLS, Cert ED, New Academics Programme, 7407 etc) Level 3 or higher qualifications in advocacy including IAQ and 3 other other key units C&G Good all round general education.
