1 Healing School - A Science Academy Job Description and Person Specification Job title: Human Resources Assistant Scale: 8-11 Purpose of role: To provide routine clerical, administrative and HR support to underpin teaching, learning and school management Line Manager: Main duties and responsibilities: Bursar Provide a range of HR admin duties across the MAT Correspond with staff on employment matters as appropriate Provide basic administrative support to assist in all HR administration Use of MIS to input and extract HR data Record HR information on the database as required Store and update HR policies as directed by the Senior Personnel Officer Prepare employment letters and contracts for sign-off Correspond with staff on employment matters Undertake HR document and report preparation, storage, format, retrieval, amendment and transmission using IT skills and a range of technology to support information processing and communication Prepare and process routine HR information Maintain simple manual and electronic HR systems, filing and information storage and retrieval systems to record, process and report information Assist the Senior Personnel Officer in the preparation of month-end returns including checking of all payroll and personnel data Assists with checking and compiling reports relating to all aspects of HR Assist in the general office with routine administration and fielding external telephone calls Photocopy and assemble routine documents Monitor children s and young people s general conduct and behaviour throughout the school and intervene to ensure the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and visitors. For serious incidents engage immediate assistance from senior colleagues Ensure safeguarding procedures (eg visitors, DBS checks) are monitored and recorded on the Central Register in line with statutory guidelines

(I) Courteous and polite (I) Experience of a range of IT applications e.g. spreadsheets and graphs to create reports and documents (A, I) Experience of working within a Personnel/HR environment (A, I)
3 Knowledge and understanding Essential Working knowledge of MS Office applications Word, Excel and Outlook (A,T) Ability to work constructively as part of a team understanding school roles and responsibilities within the MAT including your own(i) Ability to work flexibly to meet deadlines (i) Be able to maintain confidentiality, acting in a professional manner at all times (i) Desirable ICT qualification (A) Knowledge of relevant policies, codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation (I)on (A) Experience Qualifications Working arrangements It is desirable that the postholder: Has an understanding of school administrative processes. GCSE ICT grade C or equivalent qualification It is essential that the postholder: Has a good standard of education GCSE Grade C or above or equivalent in English and Mathematics On appointment to the post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check Other Duties - The duties and responsibilities in this job description are not restrictive and the postholder may be required to undertake any other duties which may be required from time to time. Any such duties should not however substantially change the general character of the post.
