PCUK s offices are in London and Glasgow and new community support service bases will be developed in various locations across the UK. This post will be based in Cardiff Job Purpose: To develop and manage a portfolio of specialist and survivorship services to support men affected by prostate cancer in Wales. will reflect the local needs of the community they serve and will predominantly be commissioned from appropriate health and social care providers. To network and forge effective working relationships with health and social care partners, non-statutory service providers and community development networks. To work with the Programme Lead to negotiate and commission services from appropriate partners. To collaborate with other Service s and other teams across the organisation to ensure integrated and effective service delivery and to support effective use of resources. 1. Duties and key responsibilities Strategy and Planning To carry out a thorough community audit to identify strengths and gaps in current service provision for men and families affected by prostate cancer. To undertake scoping and evaluation of similar existing work within or external to Prostate Cancer UK to inform service development and delivery with particular attention to high impact and hard to reach groups. To identify priorities for specialist and survivorship support service provision to support the needs of local communities To lead on negotiating commissioned services to build a portfolio of services to be provided. To identify and facilitate appropriate pilots and projects to test models of service provision To work closely with the Impact Evaluation and Programme Lead to ensure on-going evaluation of services and using these findings to improve the impact of services on service users. To ensure that all service development and provision supports the organisation s Survivorship Programme and overall business plan. To work with the Programme Lead to ensure appropriate clinical governance of external service providers To keep abreast of national health and social care policies, guidance and initiatives that relate to practice and standards of care to inform the charity s planned programmes of work. Organisation and Co-ordination Co-ordinate and manage a portfolio of services delivered by various providers at locations across your region. 2
3 Work with external contractors to ensure appropriate support and management of service providers. To lead on the development and implementation of policies and systems to ensure effective, integrated and collaborative service provision including procedures, database and knowledge management. To liaise with Facilities team to ensure appropriate and adequate office space is acquired and equipped for safe and optimal working conditions To identify gaps in support resources and work with Programme Lead to fill gaps appropriately Networking To build, foster and maintain relationships with external stakeholders - health and social care partners, non-statutory service providers and community development networks and alliances. To initiate, facilitate and support the building of networks with appropriate statutory and non-statutory organisations and community organisations and set up steering or advisory groups where needed. To represent Prostate Cancer UK at appropriate conferences and events and in local media to promote services and raise awareness of the organisation and how we support men affected by prostate cancer. Internal Stakeholders: To work closely with the Volunteer Officer to ensure adequate and appropriate use of volunteers in informing, developing, delivering and evaluating services. To work closely with the Group Development to ensure appropriate development and support of prostate cancer support groups across your region. To work with the other Service s to support best practise and to optimise partnership opportunities as appropriate for example with national organisations To work closely with other service managers to ensure integration of services and opportunities between Central and To work with the Information Team to ensure the development of appropriate information resources. To liaise with the Fundraising directorate to identify and optimise local fundraising opportunities. To liaise with the Communications directorate to develop targeted marketing and communications. Line management Provide effective management and leadership to ensure motivated performance, high quality service delivery and achievement of the business plan Develop and support effective team working by roles managed and supervised by the job holder Develop, foster and maintain excellent relationships with all relevant external stakeholders and organisations. Budget management Ensure the proper management, reporting and reforecasting of budgets under the job holder s control, and participate in budgeting and financial management at departmental level as required 3
