Mamu Health Service Limited operates from the following locations: 10 Ernest Street Innisfail, 20 Owen Street Innisfail, 23 Glady Street Innisfail, 91 Munro Street Babinda, 8 Watkins Street Tully, 41 Grigg Street Ravenshoe Position Purpose Contribute to the delivery of Primary Health Care services to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community, the development, implementation and evaluation of program resources and strategies to meet the needs of the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community, liaison with relevant community groups, health professionals, organisation and agencies Travelling throughout the geographic service area of Mamu Health Service Limited may be a requirement of this position.

2 Position Duties Performance Area Responsibility/Task Duties and responsibilities Assist primary health care services to maximise Medicare billings to meet financial targets Assist in the provision of comprehensive, culturally valid primary health care services, with an emphasis on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men, through clinic based programs as appropriate. Participate in education, health awareness and promotion, prevention, early intervention and treatment activities to maximise positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men. Maximise self-generated incoming (Medicare) to meet financial targets Perform clinical duties under supervision in all areas of the health service; this includes the general clinic, and particular community based programs. Work in a way that is appropriate to gender sensitivities operating in the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community. Participate in on-going training provided by the health service as required. Work under the supervision of other more experienced qualified staff in primary health care and clinical aspects of the work On the job training and accredited will be provided Communication Conduct all face to face and telephone contact with patients in a friendly, professional manner at all times Maintain a harmonious and co-operative relationship with work colleagues and clients Contribute to the efficient and effective functioning of the workplace in order to meet organizational objectives Demonstrating professional workplace behaviors Undertaking responsibilities or activities as directed by your supervisor Teamwork Actively participate in compulsory staff meetings Contribute to process improvement and adhere to all Mamu Health Service Limited s Policies and Procedures

3 Participation in community events (weekends and after hours when required) Be able to work in any location with our service area when required Health Promotion Support the planning, implementation and evaluation of group activities Provide and support health promotion programs through local networks Comply with legislation, policies, procedures and protocols to achieve and maintain evidence based and effective practice in primary health care with a focus on promotion, prevention and early identification Information Management Ensure the accurate collecting and recording of patient demographics in the patient information system (where required) Maintain accurate recording of client records (where required) Operate a computerized appointment system (where required) Gather and record statistical data relevant to measuring performance against agreed indicators and participate in review and evaluation activities (where required) Relationship Management Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff Develop and maintain effective relationships with other Aboriginal Medical Services in the region Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships and strategic alliances with key external stakeholders in particular other service providers Human Resources Participate in an Annual Performance Review Participate in relevant training and professional development activities required for the position Comply with all MHSL Policies and Procedures Other Duties Other duties as required, within the employee s skills and capacity level Selection Criteria SC 1 Willingness to be enrolled in/and undertake and complete a Certificate III in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care during which applications will be employed (temporary full time for a maximum of up to 18 months. SC 2 Technical capability:

4 Ability to participate in the development and delivery of evidence-based primary health care services Ability to participate in the planning and delivery of evidenced based health promotion/education services Ability to acquire generalist primary health care qualifications Patient focus: Ability to be accepted by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and possess the knowledge and understanding of the local culture SC 4 Communication skills ability to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with respect and cultural sensitivity. SC 5 Team Work Ability to manage and organize own time to meet deadlines, work within a multi-cultural environment and or independently. SC 6 Good working knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety requirements Additional Factors Employment Checks Criminal History Check (AFP) Hold a blue card through the Qld Public Safety Business Agency 2014, regulated by the working with Children-Risk management and Screening Act 2000 or ability to obtain Under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community Proof of Qualifications Proof of qualifications and current registration (where appropriate) are to be provided prior to commencement of employment Other Current QLD Driver s license is required Ability to travel within the geographic service area Ability to use Microsoft Office products and data collection systems Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain one Under section , 105 of the Anti-discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement of the incumbent to be of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander male descent Additional Information Mamu Health Service Limited has a six (6) month probation policy Mamu Health Service Limited has a No Smoking Policy at all buildings, offices and motor vehicles at all sites
