We are int the secnd phase f the Stadium Neighburhd planning prcess and we need yur input and insights. In the first phase, we listened t the cmmunity abut their current experiences f living at UBC and pririties fr the future neighburhd. What we heard was included in ur Guiding Principles and infrmed the plan scenaris (included later in this survey). 2 Building n what we heard, we have develped planning scenaris t identify and illustrate different ideas f hw Stadium Neighburhd culd be designed. These scenaris, and the big mves they cntain, are presented here fr yur review and input. We will use yur feedback t infrm the develpment f detailed plan ptins. 3 Affrdability is a challenge thrughut the regin hw can we address it in Stadium Neighburhd? We heard clearly in the first phase f cnsultatin that husing affrdability is a key challenge and that husing ptins fr the UBC cmmunity f faculty, staff and students is a pririty. We als heard that quality is imprtant and that new husing must be highly livable, sustainable, and supprtive f a strng and inclusive cmmunity. Husing Actin Plan: UBC s Husing Actin Plan cmmits that up t 30% f the Stadium Neighburhd husing will be rental, 2/3 f which is belw-market faculty/staff rental. The Neighburhd Plan prcess is explring increasing that target t 40%, delivering mre units f faculty/staff rental and ther rental husing fr the entire UBC cmmunity, including students. Hw We Mve 3

4 Getting t and arund UBC is a challenge. Hw can we best address mbility chice, safety, and reliability fr everyne? We heard that better transprtatin ptins are needed in the Suth Campus area and that we need t plan fr mbility trends and investments that may reshape hw we travel in the future. We als understand the need t manage traffic and parking impacts and t imprve walk and bike cnnectins between cmmunity and campus destinatins. 5 When planning fr change, it s als imprtant t value what exists. We heard clearly that Stadium Neighburhd shuld be shaped by the culture f the UBC cmmunity and ur respnsibility t prtect and enhance the natural eclgy that surrunds us. We als see an pprtunity t plan public and pen spaces that supprts active cmmunity life and sustains ur envirnment and ur mutual health and wellbeing. Plan Scenaris Hw might Stadium Neighburhd accmmdate new husing and a stadium? We develped three scenaris that identify and illustrate different planning appraches. The cmplete scenaris shw different relatinships f the key cmpnents: husing, a new stadium, cmmercial and cmmunity uses, and public spaces. The scenaris are intended t be flexible and different ideas can be mixed and matched. At this stage f the planning prcess, the gal is nt t chse a preferred scenari but t get feedback n the different ideas and appraches. Based n yur feedback and ur analysis, we will develp detailed plan ptins fr cnsultatin in the Fall.
