2 Job title: Apprenticeship Engagement Manager Salary 25,000-30,000 dependent on experience Location: Birmingham. Initially at Faraday Wharf, Holt Street, Aston Aston and then based at College site on Lister Street, Aston Or Doncaster College site on Carolina Way, Doncaster The location, hours of work and duties could be varied according to the needs of the service. A basic level DBS check will be undertaken for postholder. 1. Context The National College for High Speed Rail is a brand new incorporated FE College that will train the next generation of the rail workforce by addressing the skills shortages for advanced technicians created by the development and operation of HS2 and future high speed rail projects. This is not only a brand new college, but being a national college, it is a new solution to delivering excellence in vocational education and training. Covering the breadth of the rail industry from design to people experience, construction, maintenance and operations, the college will train learners from the age of 18 in Higher Apprenticeships and an HNC equivalent. The College s vision is to pioneer technical excellence, setting new standards for collaboration and diversity in what will be a major growth industry for the UK in future years. We are scheduled to open to students in September 2017, with two main hub sites in Birmingham and Doncaster and a network of spokes via partner arrangements across the UK. Job purpose To assist with the effective recruitment of apprentices including conducting interviews and administering initial assessments as appropriate. To determine correct programmes, identify additional learning support needs and make arrangements for the provision of 2

3 support. To negotiate and purchase training from internal and external suppliers as required. 3. Reporting relationships Reports to: Head of Learner Experience 4. Accountabilities To be responsible for determining employers eligibility for funding including the levy and ensuring continual compliance subsequent to employment To provide guidance and support to apprentices to facilitate successful completion of training programmes. To undertake regular reviews in line with College requirements To be responsible for organising and managing apprenticeship recruitment and selection, assessment and induction of apprentices To participate in information and guidance events To attend site evidence classes as appropriate To negotiate apprentice employment terms and conditions and ensure compliance with employment legislation e.g. contracts of employment, working time regulations, minimum wage regulations To liaise with and work with curriculum team to create and develop new and existing apprenticeship opportunities with employers To ensure employers are fully committed and able to provide relevant work, training and supervision in a healthy and safe environment and ensure the completion of all documentation to the required standard prior to commencement of the programme. To be responsible for health and safety of trainees in the workplace and on training sites. Carry out health and safety audits and review employers premises as necessary To monitor apprentice progress and identify and address any concerns to ensure timely success of all apprentices and placements To support in planning and achievement of set targets To respond to and follow up on all customer enquiries from employers and applicants in a timely manner ensuring all enquires are correctly recorded To keep up to date with other provision offered by the college, so as to cross-sell apprenticeships, work placements, activities and actions to meet market needs To produce learner information reports for curriculum departments to confirm delivery requirements 3

4 To maintain the required records of business development activity on the CRM To ensure suppliers comply with Service Level Agreements and monitor quality of training delivered To ensure individual learning plans exist for all learners and are accurate and complete This post requires full compliance with health and safety, equality and diversity, policy and procedures at all times. 5.
