1 Job Description Post: Salary Grade: Responsible to: Senior Network Administrator Subject to Job Evaluation IT Manager Key Purpose: 1 Responsible for all line management responsibilities for the IT Services department. 2 Responsible for the administration, installation, configuration and documentation of cross college network and communications infrastructure (NCI) 3 Responsible for ensuring policies and procedures are enforced to enable the effective management of the college NCI 4 Work with IT Manager in the planning process for any development work regarding NCI Responsibilities: 1 To participate in key College processes as required. 2 To act at all times in accordance with College policies e.g. Health and Safety, Equality & Diversity, Inclusion and Quality Assurance. 3 To work flexibly in the interests of the organisation as required. 4 To participate in performance reviews and to undertake staff development activities as appropriate. 5 To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults you are responsible for, or come into contact with. Duties and Responsibilities: a b c d e To support the IT Manager in the effective leadership and management of IT Services provision across SCC. To act as IT Manager in the absence of the IT Manager. To be responsible for the line management and coordination of IT Services staff; e.g. conduct performance reviews, management of underperforming staff, support coordinators in their mentoring and supervision of team members. Installation management, monitoring and maintenance of network infrastructure. (primarily 3com/HP/Meru wifi) To implement and maintain Active directory (including scripts, GPOs etc.) maintenance and standardisation

To administer college DNS, DHCP configuration. To administer college wide web filters (Sophos), firewall and proxy (ISA & Forefront) configuration. To administer System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM). To provide 3 rd level technical support as required. To ensure all faults and requests are logged and actioned in a timely manner. To work with the IT Manager in ensuring the college complies with Data Protection Act. Work with the IT Manager to create and enforce access security policies for college NCI. To frequently monitor performance against service level agreements. To work with the IT Manager in planning, development and testing of any new IT systems. To produce data and reports on network availability as required. To maintain awareness of ongoing developments in IT, advising IT Manager of potential suitability where appropriate. To provide support and internal training and development to IT Services staff. To make the IT Manager aware of any trending or recurring issues. To meet with other teams members and college managers to discuss / review systems, quality and procedures. To ensure working environment is tidy and safe. To travel between sites as work may be required at any college site. To carry out any other duties commensurate to the post as required by your Line Manager / Senior Manager.
