1 Position Description POSITION TITLE: LOCATION: EMPLOYMENT STATUS: CLASSIFICATION: REPORTS TO: Bendigo Tramways Full time (76 hours fortnight) Contract Chief Executive Officer REVIEWED: October 2017 OUR ORGANISATION became the trading name for The Bendigo Trust in December, The Trust is a not for profit organisation responsible for managing, maintaining and promoting three of Bendigo s leading visitor attractions: Central Deborah Gold Mine, Bendigo Tramways, and the Bendigo Joss House Temple. commercial objectives are directly related to increasing the level of year round visitation to all attractions which will support these sites being maintained and operated as living heritage attractions. To achieve this it will undertake activities that will entice local, national and international visitors to discover Bendigo and our attractions, to stay as long as possible and encourage their return. maintains a number of rare skills and capabilities in both the Bendigo Tramways Workshop and Central Deborah Gold Mine that are offered to external clients on a commercial basis. Surpluses from these operations are directed back to our core heritage management role within Bendigo. In 2017, through the Bendigo Tramways, was awarded the QANTAS Australian Tourism Award Best Cultural Attraction. OUR VISION To be the most inspiring heritage story in Australia. 2 Page 2 OUR ATTRIBUTES AND PRINCIPLES PRIMARY OBJECTIVES The primary objective of is to oversee the Vintage Talking Tram operations, ensuring that the safest and best possible experience is provided for our guests, which includes infrastructure/assets management and regulatory compliance. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Oversee the Vintage Talking Tram operations and staffing. Control infrastructure and asset management - planning and scheduling maintenance; Control compliance and regulator relationships; Ongoing review, drive implementation and annual audit of the SMS Development and implementation of internal systems to support the safe operating environment and efficiency of operations. Monitor adherence to approved budget. Work with CEO, key BHA staff and other attractions (internal and external) to review, develop and enhance new services for the Vintage Talking Tram experience Other duties within training and competencies as required. SELECTION CRITERIA 1. Diploma of Management (or related field) and at least 5 years experience in a relevant field of work with demonstrated success. 2. Demonstrated ability to manage a complex operating environment and supervise a diverse team of employees and volunteers. 3. Demonstrated success in infrastructure and/or asset management, planning and scheduling maintenance, ideally in an hospitality or attractions environment. 4. Demonstrated knowledge and ability in compliance systems, risk management/assessment, documentation. 5. Experienced at conducting risk assessments, risk management and preparation of SWMS. 6. Able to build rapport with team members and provide leadership.

3 Page 3 7. Proficiency with computers, including MS Word and Excel, databases, s and internet. 8. Up to the challenge of working in a dynamic environment. 9. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS a. Current Driver s Licence (essential to gaining tram driver s licence) b. First Aid Level 2 Certificate (training provided) c. Bendigo Tram Driver s Licence (training provided) KEY RELATIONSHIPS Internal Chief Executive Officer Tram Workshop Manager Team Leader Tram Services Traffic and maintenance staff Tram Workshop Team Leaders Other BHA Managers and Team Leaders External Regulators: o Transport Safety Victoria o Electrical Safety Victoria o WorkSafe City of Greater Bendigo property and asset management areas Contractors NATURE OF THE WORK This is a very active position and time will be spent each day in a combination of desk-bound duties and moving about the tram depot and workshop areas, requiring the incumbent to have sufficient stamina and agility taking into consideration the dangerous work environment which includes varied and uneven walking surfaces. Visiting other BHA sites as well as all areas of the tram network such as for inspections will be required. Quick thinking and the ability to make sound decisions in a sometimes pressured environment is a must. PRE-EXISTING MEDICAL CONDITIONS The nature of the work involved in this position has been outlined in this Position Description (and will be at the interview). UNIFORM AND DRESS CODE Depending on the duties of the day, smart attire or Work wear and PPE will be required, with the monogramed work ware and PPE being provided. All clothing and equipment provided should be maintained in good order and will be replaced on a fair wear and tear basis. Monogrammed garments must be returned when leaving employment.

4 Page 4 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE REQUIRMENTS Employees are responsible and accountable for: Complying with workplace procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and control. Participation in activities associated with the management of the workplace health and safety. Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, property damage and mishaps at the workplace. Coming to work in a fit condition. has a policy of no smoking in the workplace in line with current health and safety practice. is committed to a zero tolerance of alcohol and illicit drugs in the working environment, and will take all practicable steps to endeavour that all persons reporting for, or on duty have a zero blood level for alcohol and illicit drugs and are not impaired by other drugs. PAY AND CONDITIONS This is a contract position. All new employees will be required to sign an employment offer/contract acceptance and will be made aware of the Staff Policies & Procedures that they will be required to comply with during their employment. HOURS OF WORK Bendigo Heritage attractions are open seven days per week, every day of the year except Christmas Day. This position is full time and duties are principally carried out on weekdays. Out of hours work to meet visitor demand and requirements of the business will be required at times.
