1 Job Description Job Title: Location: Accountable To: Operations Manager (MRF) Belfast Road, Mallusk Assistant Director - MRF Job Purpose: To support the Assistant Director - MRF by managing the quality and budgetary performance; staff management; operational delivery and continual improvement of the Bryson Recycling Materials Recycling Facility (MRF). Key Tasks: Manage the operation of the MRF through developing and implementing appropriate strategies, policies, business plans, performance indicators and work programmes to achieve value for money and high standards of service. Effectively manage the performance of all personnel within the MRF facility, embedding a culture of quality, safe working and continuous improvement Manage the development and training of staff in the MRF facility and to partake in relevant training as required. Manage the practical arrangements for the recruitment of staff employed by the MRF facility and in accordance with Bryson Group Recruitment & Selection Policy. Assist the Assistant Director in the management of the MRF budget in accordance with the organisation s financial regulations. To work alongside Human Resources department to ensure that all procedures are followed within legal guidelines, seeking advice and guidance from them as and when required. Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure effective contract delivery. To represent BR in client meetings where required and to submit reports and information to local authorities or other organisations in accordance with contractual obligations of BR. Ensure adherence to statutory and contractual requirements, regulations and codes of practice. Ensure that procurement is carried out in accordance with organisational regulations. Manage all aspects of health and safety policy and legislation within the service, ensuring that all staff have the necessary mandatory training to safely and proficiently deliver their role and implement an agreed programme of personal development through the appraisal process. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the legal and regulatory framework as it applies to the operation of the MRF facility
2 To be responsible for ensuring compliance with the legal requirements pertaining to the provision of BR s services including: a) Health and safety, b) Insurance c) Environmental Protection Act, d) Employment law etc. e) Waste Management Law To ensure that approved policies are implemented within BR in their assigned area. To assist with the implementing and monitoring of the Group Health & Safety Policy in their assigned area. To attend and chair external and internal meetings as and when required. A commitment to personal and team growth and development including attending relevant training as required Any other duties that may reasonably be required and are appropriate to the post.
3 TERMS AND CONDITIONS Length of Contract: Salary: Hours: Holidays: Probationary Period: Notice: Permanent 30-35,000 pa 40 Hours per week As operation runs 24 Hrs / day, 5 days /week. Flexibility will be required. BR recognises 9 stat days, and will guarantee that at least five will be given 20 Annual days 6 Months 1 Month All employees of Bryson Recycling are required to respect an individual s right to privacy, dignity, choice & independence.
4 PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Operations Manager Criteria Essential Desirable Tested Qualifications / Education / Knowledge Current, clean driving license. At least 5 years management experience in a similar position, managing greater than 20 staff. Degree in relevant subject IT Literate Word & excel Minimum IOSH Certificate or similar H & S qualification Relevant professional qualification such as COTC Previous Experience Proven problem solving ability Experience in recycling or waste management. Working knowledge of ISO Standards. Experience working within the principles of LEAN. Special Aptitudes/ Competencies i.e. Oral/written skills Good oral and written communication skills
5 Physical Abilities/ Circumstances but only if justifiable requirement for the job Flexible approach to working is required with facility operating 24 Hrs / day, 5 days / week.
