1 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Senior Independent Living Advisor SALARY: 20,387 per annum RESPONSIBLE TO: ILA Team Leader RESPONSIBLE FOR: N/A CONTACTS: Residents, staff within the society,, external agencies, general public. General description: To provide a banded support service to residents in-line with their banding and the outcomes identified in their individual support plans. From time-to-time as required deputise for the ILA Team Leader. Specific duties and responsibilities: Be a role model and mentor for the ILAs within the team to ensure that staff are developed and that high standards of service are delivered in-line with the society s vision, goals and objectives. In the absence of the support ILS Team Leader ensure that staff rotas, service delivery and lone working arrangements are effectively managed. To carry out initial assessments of service users requirements and develop an individual support plan and individual risk assessment with the service user and in line with Supporting People and MHS policy. Work with residents to ensure the outcomes identified in their support plans are achieved. To review and up-date support plans in a timely manner in accordance with MHS policy and in line with our Quality Assessment Framework. To ensure that Merlin s policies, procedures and code of conduct are implemented consistently and ensure performance information is recorded as requested. Work closely with other departments to provide integrated services to residents.

2 To liaise with internal and external agencies in the community where appropriate to support service users wellbeing. Provide a customer focused service and contribute positively to the culture within the organisation. To ensure the safety and security of all paperwork and master keys at all times reporting any concerns to the ILA Team Leader immediately. Adhere to MHS lone working policy. To attend regular supervision and training sessions as relevant. Any other duties that are appropriate to the post Other duties: 1. Ensure that the principle of confidentiality and the requirements of the Data Protection Act are fully applied to the work of the society. 5. Actively promote the society s equality and diversity policy in all aspects of duties relating to staff, residents, contractors/consultants and external agencies. 6. Ensure that the society and its staff comply with legal and regulatory obligations and wherever appropriate, follow relevant best practice guidelines 7. Actively involve residents and others in aspects of duties, as appropriate. 8. Delivery of the red flag policy, and other relevant health and safety practices 9. Willingness and ability to travel over the whole of the area of South Gloucestershire and travel between Merlin offices/sites within a timely manner 10. Undertake such other tasks as may be reasonably requested by the postholder s manager. General notes: This is a description of the job as it is constituted at the date shown.
