1 Job Title: Department: Reports to: Position Purpose: CVS Program Coordinator CVS Team Leader The Community Visitor Scheme (CVS) is auspiced by Multiple Sclerosis Limited (MSL) and funded by the Australian Government. The aim of the CVS is to enhance the quality of life for older people living in Aged Care Homes and in their own residence receiving a Home Care Package. The objective of the CVS is to recruit volunteers who are matched to recipients and make regular, at least fortnightly, visits either on a one-to-one basis or in some areas visiting a group of recipients. The development of the friendship provides an opportunity for the recipients to feel a continued sense of belonging with their local community. The CVS Program is responsible for: Effectively and efficiently coordinating the CVS Program across a specified area, in accordance with the business plan, government guidelines and organisational policies and procedures. Volunteer coordination including recruitment, training, recognition and ongoing support. Responsible For: To recruit, train and support CVS volunteers and match to recipients. To maintain a positive relationship with Aged Care Providers and ensure matches between volunteers and care recipients enhance the life of the recipient. JOB REQUIREMENTS Key Result Area 1 Implement and maintain an efficient and effective CVS Program for designated area in accordance with the business plan, government guidelines and organisational policies and procedures. In conjunction with your Team Leader, and in consultation with relevant stakeholders, review and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of the CVS program within the designated region, identify opportunities for improvement (or new initiatives), and implement agreed follow up actions to ensure the program continues to meet the needs of stakeholders. Ensure self-management principles are incorporated into all work practices and service delivery where applicable. Ensure the needs of recipients from Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds are met as identified. Participate in risk analysis and the implementation of risk minimisation strategies. Maintain quality standards and systems and participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities, including identifying opportunities for improvement and promoting recommendations for improvement to the Team Leader. Organisational Support (Key Tasks/Responsibilities) The number of designated funded matches is achieved. Database is kept up to date. A positive working relationship is maintained with Aged Care Homes and Home Care Package providers. 2

3 Key Result Area 2 Initiate and maintain regular contact with the Aged Care Homes contact person(s) and recipients to determine the appropriateness and quality of the match. Undertake an annual review with the Aged Care Homes contact person regarding satisfaction with the CVS. Promote, raise awareness and educate internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of the program to increase awareness, participation and encourage recruitment of new volunteers. Develop and actively maintain effective and mutually beneficial partnerships, networks and relationships in order to support the work of MSL and the CVS program. Work as a collaborative and supportive team member. Relationship Management A high level of rapport and strong relationships are established with ACH, Home Care Package providers and all other key stakeholders. MS CVS is well known within region covered. Key Result Area 3 Coordinate volunteers following National best practise standards and MSL and CVS policies and processes, including on-boarding volunteers, on-going support, training and recognition, ensuring funded number of matches per region is maintained and recipients are matched appropriately with community visitors to the satisfaction of both parties. Ensure that accurate data, information and statistics are collected and maintained, including maintaining all aspects of the CVS database. Undertake accurate and timely reporting and analysis as required. Maintain personal competency consistent with the competency standards for this position. Uphold privacy and confidentiality requirements in accordance with legislation, policies and procedures. Attend all mandatory training and education and participate in meetings as requested. Where applicable, ensure own work practices are compliant with Disability Standards appropriate to your state or territory. Administration Volunteers are recruited in a timely manner. Volunteer satisfaction and retention is high. Volunteer recognition is accurate and awarded as appropriate. Strategic needs are met within agreed program objectives. C. EMPLOYMENT SCREENING REQUIREMENTS Community Visitor Scheme Program Coordinator Must be completed prior to commencing employment National Police Check (to be carried out by MS) International Police Check if lived overseas for longer than 12 months in the last 10 years (to be provided by the applicant) Right to Work in Australia (Certified copy of Passport/Visa to be provided by the applicant) Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme check (Victorian Residential Workers only) Working with Children Check (if required for role) E. SELECTION CRITERIA Essential: Experience in coordinating a volunteer program and managing all aspects of volunteer involvement. Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as in a team. Organisational, planning and time management skills. Ability to network and develop effective working relationships. Demonstrated ability to achieve results through strong influence and consultative skills. Proven ability to adapt style and approach to suit varying situations. High levels of computer literacy in using a range of Microsoft Office computer packages. Use of a reliable car with comprehensive car insurance and a valid Victorian Driver s License. Desirable: Good understanding of the Aged Care sector. 3 years or more experience coordinating volunteers and/or a Cert IV or higher in Volunteer Management 5
