1 Job Description JOB TITLE: Individual Giving Fundraiser REPORTS TO: Fundraising Manager JOB SUMMAR The post-holder will be responsible for developing and increasing income from new and existing donors through regular giving, individual donations, campaigns, appeals, direct marketing initiatives and legacies. The role will encompass donor development, supporter acquisition and retention, through research and relationship building, combining a target driven approach with a caring and empathetic manner. OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES To work with the Fundraising Manager to achieve the following; Donations and Regular Giving Development Develop and run a programme of regular giving for the hospice. Devise, implement and manage initiatives such as direct mail and marketing to attract new donors to the hospice. Devise initiatives to encourage donors to both give more regularly and at a higher level. Continue to keep up to date with legislation, custom and practice with regard to gift aid and other tax effective methods of giving. Promote and develop celebration giving such as from weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. To monitor, analyse and segment the fundraising database for fundraising / mailing purposes. To research, gathering intelligence from other hospice and charity source to inform the individual giving programme at St Rocco s. To develop and deliver a programme of exceptional donor care to engage and retain supporters. Legacies and In Memoriam Giving To develop a St Rocco s Hospice legacy marketing plan with the marketing and communications officer which demonstrates and measures activity to achieve required income targets. To develop relationships with key supporters to nurture legacy pledges. To keep accurate records of pledges and outstanding legacies including follow-up with solicitors. Ensure all legacies are efficiently administered and money received promptly. To develop strong links with local solicitors to both promote the hospice as a beneficiary and to help with initiatives such as Will Week. To keep abreast of relevant legislation relating to legacies. Be responsible for devising and implementing ongoing initiatives which continue to maximise legacy income to the hospice. To ensure appropriate legacy information is accessible for all patients, staff, volunteers and visitors. Ensure all legacy fundraising is done sensitively and appropriately. Devise and implement strategies which increase in memoriam giving to the hospice including building lasting relationships with families and other parties. 1of5

2 Manage and develop any specific appeals such as Light up a Life, Tribute Funds, Forget me not or other in memory campaigns, to maximise income streams. To organise legacy events to encourage new and existing supporters to leave a gift in their will. To use database and other research tools to identify prospective legacy donors. Promotional activity To work with the Marketing and Communications Officer and Fundraising Manager to promote individual. giving and legacy campaigns, including the production of promotional material to raise awareness. To work with the Marketing and Communications Officer and Fundraising Manager to develop press. releases, social media activity and website posts to promote individual giving and legacies and to generate funds. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES To work at all times in a way that reflects the values of the Hospice. To keep abreast of best practice in fundraising and of key developments in charity income streams. To keep up to date with best practise and legislation in relation to direct marketing including use of mail, and telephone. To work within the guidelines and codes of practice of the Fundraising Regulator and the Institute of Fundraising. To work within the framework of local and national legislation on donation and legacy fundraising. To work with the Fundraising Manager to ensure the costs effectiveness of all methods of fundraising. To undertake administrative duties associated with the role as required. To build effective links with the external and internal stakeholders. To take a collaborative approach in working across all areas of fundraising and the wider organisation. To provide the Fundraising Manager with regular updates and written progress reports. COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS To work closely with all departments in the Hospice and its volunteers in order to understand service delivery and funding needs. To work alongside and support the rest of the Fundraising team and liaise closely with the Marketing and Communications Officer, Senior Management team, Trustees and local solicitors with regards to legacies. To build working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including community and corporate supporters, solicitors, trustees, voluntary groups, individual donors, patients and families in order to achieve financial targets. To work closely with the Fundraising Manager to develop and grow individual giving and in memorial giving. 2of5

3 RESPONSIBILIT FOR PATIENT/CLIENT CARE To ensure all patients and families involved in fundraising activities are treated with sensitivity and confidentiality at all times. ASSURANCE STATEMENT The purpose of this job description is to outline levels of responsibility and accountability of this post, to ensure that all work undertaken by our staff is identified and lines of accountability are clear. INFECTION CONTROL The post holder is accountable and responsible for the prevention of healthcare associated infections by complying with all Infection Prevention & Control policies and procedures in line with legislation (Health Act 2006; Code of Practice for the Prevention and Control of Healthcare Associated Infections.) DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998 To ensure compliance with all Hospice policies, and those procedures relevant to the area of work. At all times maintain high levels of confidentiality and information security, complying with the relevant legislation such as the Data Protection Act and the Computer Misuse Act. Where any processing of information takes place (paper records or electronically) ensure that the data is of good quality, accurate and relevant for purpose. All employees must adhere to the Policy on Information Governance which provides guidance on the use and disclosure of information. The Hospice also has a range of policies for the use of computer equipment and computer generated information. These policies detail the employee s legal obligations and include references to current legislation. CONFIDENTIALIT our attention is drawn to the confidential nature of information collected and used throughout the Hospice. The unauthorised use of disclosure of patient, staff or other personal information is a dismissible offence. The unauthorised disclosure of information could also result in a prosecution for an offence, or action for civil damages, under the Data Protection Act. ou are required to observe the strictest confidence regarding any Confidential Information relating to work of the Hospice, its patients/clients and its employees. Confidential Information includes but is not limited to information relating to the Hospice received by you in the course of your employment with the Hospice, information relating to patients, personnel information, budgeting and financial information and information in respect of which the Hospice owes a duty of confidentiality to a third party. 3of5
