1 Mindfulness Network Teacher Training Programme (TTP) Lead Role Profile Our vision: Through cultivating mindfulness, the Mindfulness Network (MN) has the intention to reduce human suffering, promote well-being and create the conditions in which people can flourish. Around this shared intention, we aim to bring together a network of highly-trained mindfulness-based supervisors, teachers and retreat leaders to offer: empirically-supported mindfulness-based courses to all, regardless of economic, social, religious or political boundaries; and personal and professional development opportunities for mindfulness-based course teachers to support them to work within recognised Good Practice Standards. The (MN) brings together a team of experienced supervisors, trainers and guest retreat teachers with the intention of offering services that are supportive to the mission of the university centres (Bangor, Exeter and Oxford), but which sit more easily in a not-for-profit company. We aim to offer services at rates that are affordable, with the intention of supporting mindfulness-based teachers and training organisations across the UK and beyond to engage in their work with the highest levels of integrity. We are particularly interested in supporting teachers who are working with hard to reach communities. We have a new and exciting opportunity to help us deliver our work, which is at the forefront of delivering services to the community of mindfulness-based practitioners and teachers, not just in the UK but worldwide. The Teacher Training Pathway (TTP) has been successfully delivered through the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP) at Bangor University since the academic year and builds on the CPPD programme, which was founded in Due to transitions at Bangor University, the TTP will be delivered within a discrete arm of the MN from August A licence agreement with Bangor University, including a strong collaboration with the CMRP and the MN is being finalised. Although the training will be delivered within a discreet arm of the MN, this post holder will be working closely with core staff within the MN, namely the Business Development Manager, Executive Director, Ι info@mindfulness-network.org Registered in England and Wales Ι Company number

2 and Marketing/Communications Coordinator and administrative staff. There will also be a part-time, dedicated TTP Co-ordinator/Administrator post to support the training programme. Our staff are located around the UK, and the post holder, as with other MN staff, will be home-based. We provide services mainly in the UK, but also offer commissioned courses internationally and our participants include people from overseas. Most of our work is handled through online systems, and we are working hard to uplift our IT systems. The role is offered part time, at 1.5 days per week (12 hours). Hours can be worked to suit the post holder and the needs of the organisation, e.g., being able to respond efficiently and to attend regular meetings. Hours will be reviewed regularly and, as the business activity grows, then this may increase to 20 hours per week. Role specification: To lead the strategy and vision for the Teacher Training Programme in collaboration with the MN Business Development Manager and Executive Director and the academic lead within CMRP who oversee the license agreement with the MN. to ensure the development of a regular programme of teacher training activity as defined by the license agreement; to provide leadership and coordination of the TTP training team and the TTP mentor team in relation to delivery of the training programme; to build and maintain the relationships within the training team so trainers feel engaged with each other, part of the vision of the TTP, and supported in their work together; to monitor feedback from trainers and trainees and adjust programme delivery accordingly; to work closely with the Business Development Manager and the other MN Coordinators/administrators around business and administrative issues related to TTP delivery; to work to ensure high take up on scheduled courses through working with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator within the MN, and to support an inclusive approach to public messaging; to provide line management of the TTP coordinator/administrator, including his/her annual development and review; to make decisions regarding course delivery, effective timetabling, allocation of teaching duties and suitability of teachers to teach particular courses, in liaison with the Executive Director;

3 to provide governance of the TTP training team through ensuring adherence to CMRP/MN policies and procedures and ensuring that the spirit and ethos of mindfulness is integrated into working practices; to continue to develop appropriate policies and procedures to ensure excellence in programme development and delivery; to establish the training needs of the training team and discuss how these needs may be met with the Executive Director and CMRP Academic Lead; to take the lead in the ongoing refinement and description of CMRP s training programme philosophy, intentions and aims; to build in awareness of equality and diversity issues into programme development and delivery; to take a lead in representing the TTP outside the MN; and to be the first contact for developing new contracts for commissioned courses, building sound relationships and plans for training developments in conjunction with other MN staff. Remuneration: The role is not structured and does not necessarily lend itself well to a strict routine. It will require some flexibility to respond to queries and planning requirements, as and when they arise. Remuneration will initially be for 1.5 days (12 hours) per week, subject to review. 15,600 per annum for 12 hours per week (FTE 48,750). There will be equivalent to 5 weeks paid holiday leave pro rata. In addition, the role holder would annually receive: a fully-funded place at the CMRP/MN annual gathering including standard class travel and accommodation; and a fully-funded place at the UK Network of Mindfulness-based Training Organisations' annual meeting.

The above organization chart reflects the main business reporting, but all roles require horizontal communication. As this is a small organisation, for operational purposes the team tend to cover for each other during absences or at peak times. Communication is by , video and teleconference. There is one regular monthly whole team meeting, and other meetings as needed. There is no fixed office location. 5 Person specification: Requirements Essential Desirable Qualifications and Professional Training Training as an MBI trainer in line with UK Network of Mindfulnessbased Teacher Training Organisations Evidence of sustained continuing professional development and practice in mindfulness-based approaches Further postgraduate qualifications (e.g., clinically relevant MSc, MA, PhD) or training in relevant areas (e.g., MBCT, MBSR mental health practice and/or contemplative traditions) Experience / Knowledge A high level of knowledge and experience of the delivery of mindfulness-based stress reduction and/or mindfulnessbased cognitive therapy in secular contexts Experience of working in a team Experience of marketing events and profile management Experience of working with colleagues in different geographical locations Skills and attributes Mindfulness based stress reduction teaching and training skills Effective teacher Effective leader, team worker and team builder Capacity to develop and communicate vision and strategy Ability to work independently and manage own workload Presentation skills
