2 Senior Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor Position reference Position type Full time working 38 hours per week Remuneration $72,000 per annum plus 9.5% superannuation and salary packaging Service Area/division/state Effective date Health, Safety and Wellbeing Health, Safety and Wellbeing/People and Development /VIC October 2017 The Senior Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor is an integral partner to the organisation responsible for the delivery of health safety and wellbeing partnership services across the organisation to achieve Mind s strategic and operational objectives. This position is responsible for contributing to the strategic delivery of a holistic health, safety and wellbeing culture, behaviours and processes; including analysis and reporting on identified lead indicators, reviewing and implementing policy and procedures, providing practical in the field support and leading projects to ensure shared responsibility across the organisation. Health, Safety and Wellbeing is part of the Human Resources Division which provides core support services in the provision to workplace health and safety, people, pay and performance. The division provides the strategies, business processes and systems to enable efficient and effective management of these core support services to ensure Mind is financially sustainable, safe and technologically enabled. The focus of the Human Resources Division is to develop and support a flexible, sustainable and equitable workforce management model, which is underpinned by the provision of appropriate, consistent and timely services, process and information to managers and employees.

3 WHS and Risk Management System Provide advice and support in the area of WHS and Wellbeing Training and Induction Programs Safety and Risk Reporting Return to Work and Claims Administration Policies and Procedures Professional Development Workplace Health and Safety Other Duties Under the supervision of the manager support the implementation of the WHS management system including WHS policies and procedures across the organisation and project management of significant health, safety and wellbeing programs. Assist with the development of reports on risk status, trends and actions to be undertaken Support the development and implementation of action plans to achieve the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team targets Review risk assessments and controls from data received Investigate accidents and incidents as required Support the Health and Safety Representatives in line with legislative requirements through: Regular communication on changes to legislation and policy requirements Ensure HSR training requirements are met Provide support, training and information to HSR on local requirements, i.e. audits/risk assessment and designated workgroups Lead and facilitate the quarterly WHS Committee Meetings, including completing agenda and minutes Provide high level advice for Line Managers and Employees on WHS and Wellbeing issues such as: Legislative Requirements Mind s policies and procedures Monitoring and internal audits Incident reporting Safe practice and environment Risk Assessments and risk mitigation planning Emergency procedures Participate in the development and implementation of training programs to support WHS induction and awareness programs, safety initiatives, and other training and development plans as required (including emergency procedures) With the Manager Health Safety and Wellbeing identify issues, and make recommendations through: Performance analysis that underpin findings and recommendations on critical incidents issues Implementation of and analysis of surveys and metrics Documenting and maintaining data processes Creating a process to allow for data flow Reporting on incident and accident information Providing reporting on training programs Timely and proactive management of workers compensation claims and return to work (RTW) matters Provide support, guidance and assistance to line managers in relation to RTW and workers compensation claims Proactively drive RTW through the development of goal oriented return to work plans, programs and offers, including revision of programs for effectiveness Monitoring and reporting of claims experience and claims costs and act to minimise risk of exposure to unexpected rate increases Work in accordance with Mind Policies and Procedures to promote and encourage a safe work environment ensuring actions do not compromise the health, safety and wellbeing of staff Review and update policies and procedures in consultation with OHS Committee and Steering Committee. This includes conducting incident investigations, audits, and risk assessments Undertake relevant training and professional development if required, attend regular supervision Contribute actively to the maintenance of a safe workplace Ensure all safety issues are reported and addressed as they arise Other duties as specified

4 Reports directly to the Manager Health Safety and Wellbeing Core Requirements Tertiary Qualifications eg. Certificate IV, diploma or degree in an OHandS or related field Current valid Driver s License. Current National Police Record Check. Current Working With Children Check (Employee). 5 This position is full time working 38 hours per week. Working days will generally be Monday to Friday worked between the hours of between the hours of 8am to 6pm as required. Please note that the work pattern may be subject to change to meet the needs of the service. You are able to salary package a tax free amount, which is currently up to $15,900 per FBT year, plus other items including meal and entertainment and accommodation. The amount available for salary packaging will be subject to Commonwealth legislation as it applies from time to time and on the basis that Mind will not incur any liabilities for FBT. Mind offers salary packaging through an outsourced provider (currently RACV Salary Solutions). Other conditions are as per Mind s industrial agreement. Employer superannuation contribution will be paid according to the legislative requirement. Appointment is subject to a six month probationary period of employment.
