Connecting People with their Communities Position Title Coordinator, Community and Club Development Reports to Team Leader, Sport, Recreation and Health Award Remuneration The Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry (SCHADS) Award 2010, Level 6.1 Salary commencing range $35.67 per hour. Normal leave entitlements Employment Status Full time or Part Time (0.8) - Negotiable Date February 2017 Superannuation 9.5% Salary packaging available Work requirements Based at Geelong office and the Barwon region. POSITION OVERVIEW The Coordinator, Community and Club Development role works in a collaborative and pro-active way to ensure the high quality delivery of funded programs. It is expected that the Coordinator, Community and Club Development will also identify and seek out opportunities to develop new and creative programs and possible funding streams in line with the organisation s new strategic directions. The role of Coordinator, Community and Club Development will have a level of autonomy and accountability for delivering a specific work plan and will make a strong contribution to developing a positive and flexible organisational culture. An important focus of this role is the delivery of an integrated and holistic approach to club and community development and the ability to identify and implement actions which provide connection and integration with Leisure Networks other community development, inclusion and disability support programs. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Active contribution to the development and monitoring of the Sport, Recreation and Health Team plan and the development, implementation and review of an individual work plan to achieve KPIs and outcomes expected for key funded programs managed by the Sport, Recreation & Health Team. 2. Establish and extend the partnerships and relationships with key funding agencies and broader stakeholders including program staff within the G21 LGAs and other targeted local government areas, with a view to understanding the strategic priorities of these organisations and the alignment with Leisure Networks strategic directions 3. Work with clubs and community organisations to support good governance, planning, volunteer management and health promotion initiatives. This work will involve delivering workshops, facilitating planning and having a sound understanding of club development principles and good practice in club management. 4. Actively seek out and promote opportunities for integration, coordination and the promotion of Leisure Networks programs to ensure the organisation takes advantage of our unique role across sport development, community health promotion and disability support. 3 5. Proactive networking and partnership development with key stakeholders in the Barwon and Metropolitan areas; eg. VicSport, Sport & Recreation Victoria, Local Government, Diversitat, 6. Proactively contribute to the development of a strong, values driven organisational culture, including a commitment to being a learning organisation where team members seek opportunities to extend their knowledge, skills and expertise and celebrate the success of program achievements ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS Internal Relationships External Relationships Staff from Leisure Networks teams including the Sport, Recreation and Health Teams. State Sporting Associations, G21 (Sport & Recreation Pillar, Health & Wellbeing Pillar), VicHealth, Sport & Recreation Victoria, Community agencies and local club volunteers, key funding agencies, Barwon Sports Academy, Education, Funding Bodies, Business, Health, Disability. ACCOUNTABILITY AND AUTHORITY Whilst the incumbent works under the direction of the Team Leader, Sport Recreation and Health, it requires skill and discretion to complete duties and meet established outcomes and is accountable for providing a high level of support to all staff, for setting and achieving work quality, accuracy and output standards. The incumbent has the authority to respond to staff requests where there is full confidence the officer has all the required and factual information. The incumbent shall not commit the organisation to any non-financial or financial obligations beyond the scope of duties. The incumbent will work collaboratively to continuously improve work practices and processes within and across the organisation. JUDGEMENT AND DECISION MAKING Make day to day decisions in achieving the duties and responsibilities of the position which includes identifying, assessing and seeking solutions to issues or problems that may arise from time to time. Provide considered and generalist advice and expertise in relation to services provided by the position. PAGE 3
4 Assess the most appropriate procedures and course of action to take in completing tasks however, if in doubt they should seek guidance from supervision. Apply forward thinking, initiative and rationale decision making to minimize issues arising in areas of responsibility. Apply judgment and problem solving skills in meeting the requirements of the position, particularly in regard to workload assessment and management. Actively keeps up to date with professional knowledge in the areas of disability, working within the National Disability Insurance (NDIS) guidelines and community inclusion. ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY Complies with LN OH&S policies and procedures and cooperates with LN in relation to activities undertaken by LN to comply with OH&S and environmental legislation. Takes reasonable care for the safety of his/her own health and safety and that of other people who may be affected by their conduct in the workplace. Participate in meetings training and other environment health and safety activities. Does not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any person in the workplace or interfere with or misuse anything provided in the interest of environmental health and safety or welfare. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA Knowledge and Skills = essential = desirable Highly developed interpersonal skills and a proactive approach to contributing to the achievement of team and organisational goals including the ability to work with initiative and independence. Strong project management skills and experience in delivering small and larger scale project deliverables and outcomes. A strong understanding of the principles and practice of sport and club development and the delivery of community-based health promotion and community inclusion initiatives. Strong experience in working with and developing partnerships with key stakeholders Experience in planning and facilitating club or community network forums, workshops or presentations for a diverse audience including the ability to engage and encourage discussions and information sharing among participants Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to connect and communicate with a broad audience including senior executive staff and community club volunteers.
