3 In engineering, the word Sigma means a "Summation" or "Answer" to the problem. We hose to name our new tandem rig Sigma, beause it represents a "Summation" of everything we have learned about tandem equipment, and the people who use it, sine Unlike all other tandem systems, where the drogue was simply taked onto an existing design, the Sigma was built from the ground up, as a drogue deployed system. Contained within its design is an "answer" to every ontainer related problem we have observed. The Automati Release Lanyard is now inorporated into the RSL. If the RSL side riser breaks, or releases by itself for any reason, this feature will automatially release the other riser, thus preventing a main-reserve entanglement. We believe that you should be able to ativate your reserve with either hand. So our RSL is designed to also funtion as a right hand reserve ripord, in the event that the standard left hand reserve ripord annot be reahed, beause of injury or student interferene. Worldwide Tandem Parahuting Fatalities This is a hart of all known tandem fatalities. An automati opener might have prevented the fatalities rossed off in pink. The tehnial advanes inorporated in the Sigma might have prevented those rossed off in gold. Notie that the Sigma main deployment system ould have saved as many lives as an automati opener. The RSL, with its new TruLok pin, is designed so that only a hard, straightup pull will ause a left side utaway and reserve ativation, greatly reduing the hane of aidental funtioning. 4 TANDEM SYSTEM The drogue is onneted at the enter of the main ontainer, and held in plae by the main ontainer losing system. This yields a head high droguefall position, and makes out of sequene deployments virtually impossible. When either ripord is pulled, the losing loop slips through a series of "D" rings, allowing the ontainer to open and release the drogue dis. The drogue then partially ollapses to the size of a normal pilot hute, and deploys the main anopy. Beause the normal loop-through-grommet main ontainer losing system also holds and releases the drogue, there is no need for the addition of a three-ring drogue release.
