2 Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1 offers a corresponding multi-channel infrastructure to support the creation of integrated retail delivery applications. While important to retail banking initiatives, Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1 is helpful to any industry that needs to modernize enterprise applications. This program builds on the WebSphere integrated development and deployment environment to help maximize developer productivity and improve overall time to value. Planned availability dates May 26, 2008, (electronic software delivery) May 30, 2008, (media and documentation) Description V6.1 helps build transactional applications for retail banking delivery channels, including branch, Internet, intranet, call center, stand-alone kiosk, automated teller machines (ATMs), and mobile access terminal solutions. For the internet banking channel, V6.1 introduces a new Web 2.0 channel. This Web 2.0 channel provides a way for Web 2.0 clients to interact with server side business logic. It also supports popular Web 2.0 technologies such as Dojo and Asynchronous JavaScript, and XML (AJAX). The Web 2.0 channel consists of XML Request Handler, XML Formatter, JSON Formatter and Session Management. JSF is another presentation framework that seamlessly integrates with WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1. This allows intuitive data model mapping between JSF and V6.1 context. For branch channels, V6.1 includes extensive rich client support through a new set of rich client components, such as Visual Beans. These rich client components enable the construction of client presentation logic, business logic and client/server connectivity. Visual Beans are subclasses of Standard Widget Toolkit (SWT) beans, and they extend the behavior of SWT beans in the visual editor with new application behaviors. The new rich client desktop infrastructure provided by WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1 enables banking customers to rapidly build teller systems. It is able to reproduce most of the functions of the IBM Branch Transformation Toolkit V4.3 DSE Desktop teller system and enable them in the new rich client environment. The rich client infrastructure can also easily integrate with transaction panels developed with SWT Visual Beans. The architecture allows integration with other applications, and supports communication with applications in IBM Lotus Expeditor. To build more advanced applications, V6.1 provides a functional extension to IBM Lotus Expeditor and global data storage for expeditor components to share and exchange data. This allows WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1 rich client components to seamlessly interact with Branch Transformation Toolkit V4.3 DSE based desktop components, providing an easy migration path for Branch Transformation Toolkit V4.3 teller application customers. The Branch Transformation Toolkit V5.2 invoker is completely re-designed in WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1, to deliver a much simpler yet more powerful invocation mechanism. 3 much of manual coding and configuration can be saved. The rich set of pre-built invokers support many popular technologies such as EJB, Web Services, Java Message Service (JMS). The new function also allows developers to quickly extend and create their own invokers. The new invoker simplifies SOA integration by utilizing the pre-built Web Services invoker, which supports JSR109 style, proxy style, and DII style. A JMS invoker is also provided to invoke remote web services that have a JMS binding. V6.1 also introduces a new set of bank teller components. They are application enabler components specifically tailored for use in bank teller applications. This release supports Cash Draw Management which manages the creation, maintenance (such as updates and queries), assignment, and deletion of a cash drawer and its components. On the tool side, V6.1 provides a Transaction Editor to expedite transaction development. Transaction Editor allows editing of all existing V6.1 configuration XML files, and it has a metadata hierarchy view to quickly navigate the metadata content. Along with Transaction Editor, a Validation Tool is introduced to validate all WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1 configuration files in Transaction Editor view. Both syntax and semantic validation are supported, enabling developers to correct most common configuration problems during the development phase instead of relying on troubleshooting at run time. V6.1 provides a much more flexible, rule based migration tool over previous releases. This allows you to either re-use the pre-defined migration tools or create your own specific rules. The pre-defined rules support migration paths from Branch Transformation Toolkit V4.3 and V5.2 to WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1. To help customers monitor application status, WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit V6.1 provides a run-time monitor to check in-flight data such as context and session data. To improve serviceability, significant enhancements are made to the logging and exception handling in V6.1. Additional tracing statements are included in the product codes. You can now rely on the product trace support function to troubleshoot their application problems. 8 In the case of a symmetric multiprocessor (SMP) System, a customer must acquire a processor license for each processor in the system. For example, a server configuration with two 4-way SMPs, whether stand-alone systems or nodes in a larger system, would require a total of eight processor licenses (eight D56G3LL licenses). Note: Processor licensing is not available for S/390 processors except through the special bid process. As an alternative to purchasing Enterprise Edition processor licenses for the deployment of end-user applications built using the Enterprise Edition product, customers can purchase Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit user license (D5C2YLL licenses) for each end user. For end users who cannot be counted or verified, customers must purchase the enterprise license for deployment to cover entitlement for this use. user license option can only be purchased when the end users can be counted and verified. To purchase WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Workgroup Edition user licenses, customers must hold a minimum of one Enterprise Edition license (one D56G3LL license). A Workgroup Edition license does not entitle the user to use any development feature of the product. Developers require an Enterprise Edition license. The price of Workgroup Edition V6.1 is based on the number of concurrent users. Customers of WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Workgroup Edition should plan on implementing counting methods for users and then obtain additional user entitlements to the extent required. The Workgroup Edition price is independent of how many processors are serving the licensed users. Those processors may include S/390 processors. The following examples illustrate the pricing method: 1. Customer has implemented an internet solution using WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Enterprise Edition V6.1. The project and ongoing development required one developer. Assume the application developed will run on four non-s/390 processors and does not permit counting of users. The customer should purchase five WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Enterprise Edition V6.1 licenses (five copies of D56G3LL), one for the developer and four for the deployment. 2. Bank built a distributed branch teller system for use by its 5000 employees. This project required five developers. The application will run on the employee workstations, branch servers and centralized WebSphere servers in the same OS/390 environment as the back-end host systems. This customer should purchase five processor licenses of WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Enterprise Edition V6.1 for the developers (five copies of D56G3LL). They should also purchase 5000 user licenses of the Workgroup Edition for the employees (5000 copies of D5C2YLL). 3. Customer bought a ready-to-deploy end-user application for use by 200 call center agents from an independent software vendor ready to deploy. The application was built using Enterprise Edition V6.1 and runs on both client and server processors. This customer should purchase one processor license of Enterprise Edition (one D56G3LL license) to satisfy the requirement for minimum one WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Enterprise Edition license and 200 user licenses of WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Workgroup Edition (200 copies of D5C2YLL). 4. Customer built a Web services front end application for a legacy back-end host system using Enterprise Edition. The project initially requires three developers. When deployed, one developer will be responsible for maintenance and extension of the Web services. The Web service is planned to run on four non-s/390 processors. The customer should purchase five WebSphere Multichannel Bank Transformation Toolkit Enterprise Edition processor licenses (five D56G3LL licenses), one for the maintenance developer and four for the deployment. The two other developers should use two deployment licenses during the development phase of the project. If the customer wants to deploy these Web services on S/390, then a special bid licensing request should be submitted. Processor A processor core is a functional unit within a computing device that interprets and executes instructions. A processor core consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more arithmetic or logic unit. With multicore technology, each core is considered a processor. 9 capacity licensing, a proof of entitlement (PoE) must be acquired for all activated processor cores available for use on the server. Authorized user An authorized user is one and only one individual (named or unnamed) within or outside your enterprise. A PoE must be obtained for each individual user accessing the program in any manner. A program licensed under an authorized user PoE may be installed on a single computer or server, and accessed by multiple users, provided that a PoE has been obtained for each individual user accessing the program either directly or indirectly (via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means on behalf of the user. Value Unit: A Value Unit is a pricing charge metric for program license entitlements which is based upon the quantity of a specific designated measurement used for a given program. Each program has a designated measurement. The most commonly used designated measurement is a processor core. However, for select programs, there are other designated measurements such as users or resources which may include servers, client devices, and messages. The number of Value Unit entitlements required for a program depends on how the program is deployed in your environment and must be obtained from a Value Unit table. You must obtain a PoE for the calculated number of Value Unit entitlements for your implementation. The Value Unit entitlements are specific to a program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Unit entitlements of another program.
