The MAC is a cultural hub and since opening in 2012 has quickly become a beacon for the ongoing regeneration of Belfast. Open 363 days per year, we offer an eclectic programme of visual art, theatre, dance, family workshops and lots more. Since opening in 2012, an amazing 1.5 million visitors have come through the doors of the MAC. These visitors have attended more than 3,000 live performances, 39 visual art exhibitions, 100 family workshops and collectively drunk over 90,000 cups of coffee.

Main Purpose of Job We are looking for an experienced Café Bar and Hospitality Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of the MAC s successful café bar, corporate and conferencing hospitality business. A proven leader with a collaborative approach to delivering an outstanding level of customer care, you will have experience of successfully managing and developing a customer facing team. The successful applicant will be personable and enthusiastic, with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with confidence and skill. You will be responsible for ensuring that customers and visitors to the MAC receive outstanding service and quality. Excellent communication skills are crucial, along with a rigorous attention to detail. Also, you will need to effectively manage the competing demands within this busy multi-use venue. Finally, you will be passionate about the MAC and will enthusiastically embrace all elements of its unique organisational culture.

6 Key tasks and responsibilities The Café Bar and Hospitality Manager will be responsible for managing all of the MAC s food and beverage business operations. You will ensure the efficient, safe day-to-day operation of the MAC café bar and corporate hospitality business including the management of assets and staff. You will be responsible for cost controls in planning, forecasting, budgeting as well as business processes and targets - including the procurement of services and the identification and management of suppliers. You will be responsible for the delivery of the highest standard of customer care and all appropriate legislation, policies and procedures in relation to food safety standards, staff training and EHO requirements. Careful management of staff costs and stock control is paramount. Café Bar and Event Management: Direct line management of all café bar staff. To include the creation of staff rotas; manage all training and service delivery. You will lead the hospitality teams and will ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of all hospitality operations to budget Manage all operational matters relating to the café bar and hire events at the MAC and to manage an efficient staffing structure to support this within set budgets. To be responsible for the planning and delivery of all hospitality services through effective use of the MAC s event management software and to liaise with other departments as appropriate. Liaise with chefs to plan menus for café bar and bespoke catering catering events Ensure that all aspects of the MAC s hospitality operation provides a welcoming and safe environment to customers and potential customers Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all relevant license requirements for the proper management of the MAC ensuring compliance always To be responsible for standards of cleanliness within the MAC café bar, through tight management of the MAC s contract cleaning company and on a daily basis to present a pristine environment at all times

7 Key tasks and responsibilities Customer Service: Deliver exceptional customer experiences for all our café bar and hospitality customers including daily visitors; pre and post show audiences and corporate clients Ensure the MAC s brand ethos applies in all dealings with customers Ensure that the MAC café bar is a welcoming and vibrant space for visitors and customers Show leadership throughout the MAC at all customer-facing events Coordinate responses to customer queries, complaints and feedback within the MAC friendly tone of voice, and work with other colleagues to resolve issues and follow up as necessary providing the customer with a positive experience People Management: To lead, motivate and manage a team of hospitality staff ensuring excellent team working practices To ensure that staffing needs meet operational and business requirements To be responsible, with HR support, for the recruitment and induction of relevant staff when necessary To develop and implement training programmes for the hospitality team, ensuring staff are suitably trained to perform their duties To regularly review the performance of staff and set and monitor KPIs Relationship Management: Report to the Operations Manager to ensure that the MAC s catering, café and bar operations meet the agreed key performance indicators (KPIs) Liaise with the Events Officer in the delivery of all hospitality requirements and event management Liaise with other MAC departments and third parties regarding hospitality delivery as required including internal and external customers. Liaise with the Finance Officer to ensure the accurate and timely completion of casual wages and supplier invoices Develop a network of suppliers and contacts within the hospitality industry

8 Key tasks and responsibilities Business Development/Financial Management: Own and deliver the café bar and hospitality financial targets, reported on a quarterly basis and reviewed at weekly 121 s with your line manager each year Create, manage and deliver a robust stock control system and report results monthly Provide monthly sales reports and analysis from EPOS system Work closely with the marketing team to ensure the proactive promotion and marketing of the MAC café bar as a destination Ensure that maximum profitability is delivered alongside maximum customer satisfaction Calculate and communicate accurate prices to customers along with the Head Chef when planning events Assist in the preparation of relevant budgets and be responsible for the effective management and control of delegated budget expenditure, maximising the impact of the way in which delegated budgets are spent Assisting in the collection of high-quality customer data Ensuring compliance with the terms of Data Protection legislation Other: Assist in the achievement of income generation targets in the running of events and the management of external hires and to identify commercial opportunities for the MAC To act as Duty Manager on daytime and evening shifts as and when required To operate IT systems in line with company standards and procedures To present yourself in a professional manner and attire at all times Any other reasonable duties as specified by the Operations Manager or Senior Leadership Team

9 Why working at the MAC is great Getting to know the MAC theatre tickets MAC staff can use their Getting to know the MAC complimentary tickets for any MAC show, at any time. They are a great way to become familiar with our fantastic programme of events. Exhibition training with our Curator Every three months, the exhibitions in our galleries are changed. At this time you ll receive in depth training from our Curator (and quite often from the artist themselves) on the forthcoming exhibition. Invitations to gallery previews with opportunities to meet the artist When a new exhibition opens, the MAC always hosts a preview evening. Staff are invited to the preview evening for a chance to see the exhibition exclusively before opening to the public. Invitations to previews of MAC productions and gallery openings We celebrate the opening of all MAC productions and Coproductions with a press night. Staff are invited to come along, see the show and enjoy the atmosphere. Get your birthday off
